Junctin/Switch sensitivity distance CHANGE?

I don't know if it can be done. A loco or a rolling stock has to be a certain distance away from a junction before you can change the junction direction.

For me, I'd like to change this distance to closet to the junction location. I'd like to be able to operate the junction "just past" it rather than "way past it". It seems more realistic.

Can this sensitivity distance be changed in some global manner so that all existing and new junctions behaves the same way? Hopefully through a .txt file of some sort?

If not globally, can it be done for each junction kuid?

Thanks

In 2006 in surveyor, go to the track tab and select the RH button (trackmark mode). click on Advanced and you will see an option to set the trigger radius (default value 20.00m) set this to what you want (I use 0.5m) and select the Set Trigger Radius button to the right of it. Now click on each of your junction circles and this will set them to the new radius. You can now save your route with the new radius. This will also work in 2004 but will only be saved in the current session. I assume it still works in 2009 but haven't tried it yet.

It depeds on the Trainz version you are using. In 2006 -2009 it can be changed this way.

Open the Track menu - Trackmark Mode (V) - Trigger - Advanced

In the window the default value is usually 20 which actually indicates the diameter of the trigger circle. Set this to whatever value you want, mimimum 2, then left click on the center icon. Now left click on the switch and that will be set to the new trigger radius.

If you click on the left-hand icon and then the switch it will tell you what the current value is.

You must have a switch-lever assigned before this will work

This also works in 2004 but the value is not preserved.

Edit Teddytoot you beat me to it. However the value is actually the diameter, the default 20 gives an effective range of 10 metres on the track

Hello Teddytoot,

Excellent tip that should make a lot of prototypical, if strongly frowned upon, switching moves possible. Of course, in Trainz there is no risk of being fired. Thanks.

Bernie

Thanks also to you, Narrowgauge.

I knew there was something I missed. All this time, I didn't know you an do that.

In fact, several years ago I made some commotion about this. Looks like Auran was listening. Now we need other bugs to be resolved, and for that I hope they are listening once more...
