Well wish me luck. Gonna take a joyride on Sacramento's Regional Transit Light Rail. Going everywhere it goes: Meadow-Watt/I-80 aka Blue Line & the Gold Line aka Downtown Sacramento(Amtrak Station) to Sunrise/Folsom.

Well shows the different meaning of a word here. Don't use the word as meant here in Great Britain or you could get arrested! But anyway enjoy your trip. Trams, streetcars, light rail all much the same but great fun so enjoy your hops.

Somehow I doubt he'll be driving the trains Rjhowie :hehe:

There has to be a like button as this forum seems to be coming more and more like facebook

Hi Everybody.
I am at the time of posting joyriding on the 15.00 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads HST service enjoying a nice cup of coffee which has just been served to me and also savoring the full Internet access which is now available on all HST services into the West Country (UK). Now this is what I call a train ride and not some pokey little tramcar poodle which to me is not really a true railway experience at all.

Kris if you really want to " joyride" I suggest you save up and take a trip to somewhere that has a HST service and experience what "real" passenger Railways are all about. For the rail enthusiast you will never beat traveling into London through its suburban outskirts at over 100 mph and then to get the smell of the brakes as it reduces speed rapidly on the final approach to Paddington. Again as you leave London Paddington you get the gentle cruise away from the platforms and then as it passes Royal Oak station you hear the " scream" of the turbochargers as it starts to throttle up to its 100 mph + cruising speed.

For rail enthusiasts it's an experience that never reseads however many times you travel on this line or for me any other HST service.

This sounds like fun, Kris.

When I went the NMRA show came to Boston in 1984 (I think), they had a tour of the Boston Green Line. I went all the way from Lechmere to Newton on it for one ticket. A lot has changed since then. The old EL is gone near North Station, and the tracks are gone along the Jamaica Way to Forrest Hills. This line was just deactivated before the tour, so we had to take a bus down and the Orange Line back up. We then visited the Mattapan Car Shops where the Mattapan Highspeed Line originates. (This line hosts some antique PCC cars still in revenue service). Later on we took trips on the Orange line from Oak Grove to Forrest Hills, and the Red Line from Harvard Square to Braintree.

Oh the last time I went joyriding, I was 16 and borrowed my dad's green Dodge Dart Swinger. :)
