At the end of the day, its all about eye candy - add as much eye candy as possible. At least it doesn't come with all of the added sugars - right?

As the marketing experts will tell you, regardless of what the product is, that is what sells these days. It has also been very evident in politics of late.At the end of the day, its all about eye candy
If you recall John these were things we highlighted when S2.0 was first released and N$V asked for feedback. We gave them the feedback and nothing was done. How long has S2.0 been out now? They even released Trains 2022 PE with these problems. Same old story, they ignore and move on. No surprise that I cancelled my Train+.That chartreuse green-yellow glow around selected assets is absurd. How about a simple marquee instead? That bright chartreuse makes it difficult to line things up such as catenary. I spent way longer in S2.0 placing catenary than I should have and the spline points were way off in space meters from where they should've been. I ended up ripping it out in Classic and had the wires hung in less than 5 minutes! It's all about making things easier and not more complicated. KISS.
Yes, I remember that now that you mentioned it. We were told at the time that this is all WIP and things will be updated and fixed. Oh, another thing that I forgot to mention is the dark bars on either side hiding the screen. Those show disappear when the palettes are hidden, again this is WIP too.If you recall John these were things we highlighted when S2.0 was first released and N$V asked for feedback. I cannot recall the last time I had to jump back into Classic to do anything but each of us has our own preferred way of working. But, Classic is still needed for a lot of things. It's not that I'm used to it, it's easier to accomplish things that are truly awkward in S2.0. That chartreuse green-yellow glow around selected assets is absurd. How about a simple marquee instead? That bright chartreuse makes it difficult to line things up such as catenary.
Me being so cynical with game devs and the general inshitification of everything these days, I would not be surprised if it ends up this way and that route building becomes a subscription only. No, that's the Xbox version of Trainz coming to PC.

I don't see that happening, but this is N3V, so...Me being so cynical with game devs and the general inshitification of everything these days, I would not be surprised if it ends up this way and that route building becomes a subscription only.
Well, a long while back, N3V had a survey asking if there would be an interest in separating both Surveyor and Driver into separate Trainz products. You would pay for Surveyor only or Driver only modes and that would be it. How that would work I have no idea. How testing sessions would also be interesting.Me being so cynical with game devs and the general inshitification of everything these days, I would not be surprised if it ends up this way and that route building becomes a subscription only.
Before I express any opinion, what was the consensus to that question? Was the results made public?Well, a long while back, N3V had a survey asking if there would be an interest in separating both Surveyor and Driver into separate Trainz products. As of typing, I couldn't find the link to it but if there is a huge interest, then I'll look around for it. It was a couple of years ago when this was asked.
cheers
As far as I know of, no they weren't.Before I express any opinion, what was the consensus to that question? Was the results made public?
I forgot about thisSurveyor is one of the things that brings me back to Trainz each time, and without it, there are much better train driving alternatives out there.
I believe the newsletter mentioned this was soundly rejected by the community, and they planned to listen to that. But that's just my recollection. Before I express any opinion, what was the consensus to that question? Was the results made public?
I also have a vague recollection of that or something similar. There are Trainz users who never use Surveyor so providing a cheaper Driver only version would make sense for them. A Surveyor only version, however, would not make any sense, to me at least. How you would test the routes/sessions you created in a Surveyor only version, as pointed out by @hiawathamr, would be a mystery. But if there is a market for that then why not?Well, a long while back, N3V had a survey asking if there would be an interest in separating both Surveyor and Driver into separate Trainz products.
