items in content manager not in surveyor

I have content in the content manager,I can see them and there are no warnings or anything like that. When I go into surveyor to add item to route,its not there. Where is it. I must be missing something.
I just realized I still have trs 09 on this computer. Would this be why items are showing upin content manager? Can I import everything in 09 into trs 12 and that way get all my trees locos etc. including the route that is there.

It is possible to set items to not show up in surveyor. This is done by the item creator (and can be changed). I cant find which setting is it; I'll give it another look tonight.

Some items, like Speedtrees, have certain settings in the privileges container that affect it - in this case, it sounds like permit-listing is set to 0 in the config file, which in effect prevents it appearing in the Surveyor lists.
