I was just cleaning out my computer, and as I was cleaning it, I found that there is a program called game booster. I heard it's supposed to make playing games that are hungry for good PC specs and pretty much any PC game, smoother and improves the fps a bit. Does anyone use this? I am thinking about downloading it tomorrow to see it it really does do the job. I have looked at some reviews for it and people are actually impressed with this.

I don't have a clue, but I have just downloaded the free version, I'll look at it and see what it can do regarding TS12
Check back in little bit and I'll let you know the answer. Because I know what frame rates I'm getting prior to installing it so I should be able to tell you if it increases frame rates.

Hmmmm, I might be a little curious about this program myself. If it is a good one, then I might have to try it, so that I can possibly try to squeeze what ever bit of performance in Trainz that I can get out of my rather budget Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop.

I used to use it on my old PC P4 XP Pro 32bit. Do not need it now with my new PC Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. Win Score 7.6/7.9.

Well if you have a system that's short on RAM it definitely does close all nonessential background applications while you're in gaming mode. In order to get any of the system tweaks and other advertised advantages you have to buy the full product, 10 bucks isn't that much to spend.
I didn't see much improvement on my frame rates, but keep in mind I have 24 gig of RAM but the shareware version did go in and shut down all nonessential background applications and did it rather quickly, and when I turned it off they all came back. So in that respect it appears that it's a legitimate product and won't do any harm that I can see.
But as I stressed above if you're short on RAM I can see it being a benefit especially for 10 bucks. That's a lot cheaper than RAM.

I'm intrigued by its system tweaks and it's supposed ability to defrag just the game directory. I'm trying that now.

Well, I downloaded the free version, set most of the programs that I eventually settled on to be closed down, added the TRS2004 shortcut from my desktop to the Game Box, and then ran it. It does free up some memory, which, since this laptop only has around 896 megabytes of RAM in it, is a good thing. 
There might have been a little better performance in Trainz, but no thing major yet. However, every little drop of extra memory, etc., counts on this laptop. And besides, I had not switched off a few programs using Game Booster that I eventually did settle on after running Trainz, which included the Desktop Window Manager, Dell Webcam Manager, etc., which frees up a little bit of space.
Overall, I still need to upgrade the memory in my laptop, but this program does free up some memory. Maybe I can increase the size of the Trainz resource cache (the memory that Trainz uses for caching stuff so that it does not have to load it each time you view e. g. a certain section of a map again) a little more, which will likely increase performance by a little.
I do not really know what the other features in the payware version do. I do not think that I will spend the 10 bucks on the payware version yet. Those 10 bucks could go toward the price for an other gigabyte or more of memory.
Any way, I think that I will run Trainz with the Game Booster from now on.

The program is very good for older computers, before my old machine died it was the only way I could run most routes decently for the machine. Without it on it would be a literal slideshow of 2-3fps as opposed to about the 10fps I would get with it in gaming mode.
Advanced System Care is also very good(from the same people who make gamebooster) and cleans out other useless stuff bogging down the computer, which I still use on my new custom rig.
Game booster I have installed but don't use because I see no benefit from using it.

I find that Game Booster is useful in some circumstances, although the actual impact it makes is dependent on your system (CPU,memory,video card)
It also is useful if you run Steam, XFire,Teamspeak etc as I know that Game Booster has an option to show any updates for them.
For more experienced users, it will also show if any drivers (graphics/sound) need updating.
The free version is limited in some areas though, as you cannot hide certain items.
Also, users with Advanced SystemCare will find that it has it's own boost capability (Turbo Boost) , which I have found is not as advanced as Game Booster.

Yep, I found out about this program after I used advanced system care to optimize and defrag my hard drive, and improve my system performance, and remove spyware. I will try it out in a few. If I can just get 10 more fps than I have right now which is usually 15-25 on high end routes, I would be more than happy.

When, I am editing, I am noticing a bit of an improvement with the fps which is good news.. This program is great so far. Lets see if there is an improvement when I am in the cab of the train.
You are using TC1/2 which is single core and uses a maximum of 2 gigs of memory. Going to TS2009/10/12 would make use of two cores and give you better frame rates in native mode. 4 gigs of memory or more with Win 7 64 bit will probably you you the best performance as TS2009/10/12 can use 4 gigs of memory under a 64 bit operating system.
Generally speaking this type of software works better if system memory is the bottleneck, if it isn't then it can slow down the system.

I am not sure if I am in that much need for this program but I am using trainz classics 1 and 2 on my laptop. I never really use metropolis edition. Mainly the metro north part of it. Here are the specs to specify whether I need this or not.

Well you have a dual core processor and a 64 bit operating system so I'd probably move to TS2010 or TS12.
Generally speaking a separate video card is preferred but this isn't always possible with laptops.

I bought it lastnight after mrscsi had,
I checked frame rate on Midshire Mainline with speed trees and 4 consists
( 89 fps Avg maxed out)
But with Game Booster on there was a little drop ( 82 fps Avg maxed out)

I tested game booster, while I was driving in the cab, and I am seeing some good fps. There is not as much lag on my crazily detailed route. But what I dislike about game booster, is that it creates a new battery plan for you laptop. I am not sure if it acts the same way on a desktop. It's called gaming mode power plan. In my opinion, it's like the default battery plan with some tweaks and customizations to it to gear it more towards the high performance battery plan. Now, when I leave the battery uncharged, the battery will go from fully charged-dead in around 40 minutes. Now, what I am thinking of doing is, when I am not playing trainz, I will switch my battery plan to power saver so that way, it could lasts anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.

It probably what I would expect if you have enough memory. Gamebooster and other software of this type work by freeing up memory but there is an overhead, if you have enough memory you just get the overhead but boost in available memory.

It's weird but the game booster program I was talking about earlier, my battery settings were at gaming mode (used only for gamebooster), and I was working on my battery, and the battery went from like 50%-5% in around 7 minutes. . Should I keep using this program. Now, I am debating whether I should use this program. It's cool and all but something tells me that my battery and this program are not friends at all . If I had a desktop, I wouldn't have to worry about this since it works with DC I believe. And electricity is always flowing through the wall.

You do not have to operate in the gaming mode power plan. You have the option to turn it on and off, or choose another power plan.
