Is this a DUMB Question?

Why is it, when I'm in Surveyor, and I move my "cursor" down the tracks, at a slow rate like a Loco would go, there is NO STUTTER? Even in the most Hi-poly ares, everthing moves by just as smooth as glass. Yet in Driver, I get stutter in these same areas. Why is that?

(I told you it might be a dumb question....!)

Don't forget the AI - physics, path setting, any other scripts or triggers running - theres lots more going on in Driver than Surveyor...

If that is the case, then why does it take my Surveyor so long to respond to mouse clicks? My Surveyor runs so much slower than Driver mode. It is so bad that I don't enjoy working on my route. Are there any setting I can change to make it more responsive?

davesnow - Mouse cursor = 0 poly and little memory vs locomotive + rolling stock + all effects used + rules in effect + etc. = many polys and memory use

Dap - you issue confuses me, I don't know how Surveyor could run slower but maybe someone else does. Only thing I could think of is check your mouse settings, Windows has something in it (I forget the name) to check mouse speed, response and such.

cascaderailroad - if you mean the compass, no.

I forgot to mention that my route has over 100 miles of mainline track running diagonally from SE to NW. I have not taken the time to do a count of the tiles, but there are a bunch. In Surveyor, things take forever to happen such as running the cursor over a button on the control panel. I have to wait about 2 seconds for the button to light up so it will work. Placing items on the terrain is also very sluggish.

In driver mode, everything works up to speed.
