Is there any benefit of upgrading 2009 with 2010? (not a rant at all)

Is there any benefit of upgrading 2009 with 2010 instead of installing stand-alone?

Or would you install 2010 as a standalone product after deleting 2009 first to avoid any problems?

Wasn't the orginal deal supposed to be that 2010 would not come with the building suite and you would need both products to have all content?

I am sorry if this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find anything in search and I haven't had my radar on TRS for a while.

Cheers!

I deleted Trainz 2009, when Trainz 2010 was announced, as I had a problem with silver/white land when it was foggy, I have sent tickets into Helpdesk and Trainz dev, for them to hopefully fix the problem I was seeing...

Trainz 2009 was great, except for the silver/white land, that was the only thing that let it down...

I've ordered Trainz 2010 on DVD, as any errors which are found now with the download version, will be spotted, rectified or fixed, and then the fixed version of Trainz 2010 will be released on a DVD...

The great forum friends on here have got eagle eyes, and will find most problems with the download version, so then the Auran team can fix them in time for the DVD release...

Hope this helps

I would keep two different installations myself. TS2010 will make changes to your TS2009 content and routes if you go the update path.

So far, the Speedtree system is a dud. However, they extended there graphics upgrades to more default assets, like the BR HST. I've never downloaded/bought TS2009. Nor will I probably ever. TS2010 is tempting, but I'm broke. I also want to see if I can get upgrades a litter further.

I'd say, TS2009 was TRS2006 all over again. You have to buy it be cause it's so dang good, but it might not be worth it.

Cheers,
Joshua

Gee, if you don't own it how do you know anything about Speedtrees? Are you just basing that opinion on the whining of a handful of users posting in this forum?

Please don't turn this thread into a Auran bashing party.

For the record; I own BOTH TRS versions, my question was merely wether you would have any added benefit by upgrading instead of doing a clean install of TS2010 as a stand alone product.

I currently went the upgrade way and so far everything seems to be in order. we'll se wether I opt to reinstall as a stand-alone product later.

:) Thanks, Yskonyn!

I´ve tried to decide if I should upgrade my 09 or make a clean install of 2010, now I decided to do like you, an upgrade!!

The big deferences is if you upgrade 09 you get all your downloads in 10, if you do clean install you will have to re-install all your downloads and if you did a lot of error fixing you will have to do that again.

Great zade, I hope you will have a lot of fun with it. I know I am so far!
The CMP lists about 13000 objects as 'Update available', though. Are these installed assets which have a newer version on the DLS or are those DLS objects which have a newer version down the list somewhere? That's kind of confusing as I don't know wether I should update all those assets or wether its just information for the DLS?
