Is There a Way to Temporarily Drive an AI Train?

Is there a way to take control of an AI train for a short time?

The following is a typical example:

Suppose an AI train has a long list of commands. It is instructed to stop at a station for 15 minutes, then continue on its way, executing more commands. While it is stopped at the station, it is blocking a turnout by a few feet. I would like the AI train to pull forward about ten feet.

As of now, the only way I know of doing this, is by erasing all of its commands, driving it forward a little, then inputting the remaining commands again.

Please keep in mind that this is only one example, and there are many other situations where I would like to take control of an AI train for a very short time, then give control back to the AI driver.

Is there a way to do this?

Thank you
Dean

There is a way to do what you want.

The default command list in driver (accessed by right-clicking the train) includes the commands 'Stop Train' and 'Abandon Schedule.' It sounds to me like you are using the latter; which stops the train and erases it's list of commands.

The way to do what you want is use the 'Stop Train', move it where you would like it to be, and then use the 'Continue Schedule', to start the AI driving again.

Yes and no. To do what you want to do is almost certainly yes. As has been posted, click on "Stop Train" and this will allow you to take over the controls and drive it yourself. When you want the AI to resume control click on "resume schedule". Where "no" comes into the equation doesn,t actually apply in your situation but it may help for future reference. Lets assume the next command is " drive via Biggleswade" and you drive past that trackmark and return control to the AI it will then attempt to drive by the trackmark it has already passed. In this situation you would have to remove the command by dragging it off the command bar. Hope this helps.

"Stop Train" and "Continue Schedule" is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, this works perfectly.

And yes Colourlight, your comment makes sense.
