Is there a way to instantly load an entire freight train while in Surveyor?

Is it even possible to test drive or test operate trains/rail vehicles while in Surveyor?
It is a nuisance and time-consuming to have to save and close Surveyor and open Driver/Sessions to test something I did while in Surveyor to see how it acts. Often, when I open up Driver to do a test, I am taken to a point on the map far away from the last place I was on the map for a particular route I was editing in Surveyor.

What determines the place on your route where you are at immediately when you open up a session?

Also, while in Surveyor, the map/landscape can getting cluttered with too may spline point circles with various spline points of various objects all in the same place or near one another so it is often hard to select one particular point out of clustered-together group of spline points to edit. Often when I try to work with one spline point close to another, I inadvertently disturb the wrong one.

Yes, use the "Instantload" command. Do you know how to add commands in Surveyor?

So don't and instead press ctrl-F2 for instant driver session.

The first listed driver in the drivers list in the session rules decides what driver you will show up as. Just position that driver in an engine at the place you want your session to start.

I divide my work / assets up into layers. See the layer menu in Surveyor.
A commonly used layer for me is "trees" in which I put all trees and splines of green stuff.
You can lock a layer and even make it invisible while you work on other things / layers. You won't grab a spline point of a locked layer.

Notice that none of the things I answered had anything to do with your topic title. It would be nice if the title of your topic sort of covers the things in your topic instead of not being related at all. A title like "Looking for a few tips and tricks for surveyor" would have covered it a lot more. It also probably would have fit nicely in any of your other 60 topics.

Yes, but I was wondering if I could put freight onto EMPTY cars like center-beam flatcars or piggy-back trailer cars while actually IN Surveyor at the time? I know commands can be added in Surveyor when editing a Session, but I wasn't sure if these commands could be EXECUTED while in Surveyor as well.

You don't need a command to put freight into cars in Surveyor - that function is part of the car properties. You can copy the load into any other matching cars if you want. You can't use properties to load a whole train in one operation, but you can load all cars of the same type.

You can find a question mark button in the vehicle menu. Click on the vehicle and you can than load it. If the good you are looking for are not offered by default, you can usually add them by clicking the plus ( "+") symbol.
At the top of the load menu you can find a button which offers you the functionality to instantly load all the (same) cars in that consist with the same goods, saving you a lot of work in long strings of container or coal cars.

Enjoy!

Edit:
And I noticed I was a bit slow as BuilderBob beat me to it :hehe:.

You can assemble a train, one car at a time ... then save it as a "New Consist", and re-name it.

Then you can place that entire train with one click.

No ... There is no automatic feature(s) in Trainz ... and there never will be !
