hi all

in Trainz Classic CMP is theer a way to print out or just save as text the names and the kuids?

that way i would knwo what i can use as vehicles and so on.

ron

Select the items you want to list in CMP.

Edit -> Copy to clipboard

Paste into Excel,Word,notepad or whatever.

Mike.

Open a new document in word.

Edit -> Paste.

Job done.

(I'd put them into Excel if you have it. As it's comma-seperated you can make two columns from the text and it will be more useful for sorting etc)

hi mike

i got them into excel

how do i separate them into two columns?

sorry i'm new to this

thanks

Hi Ron,

Once you have loaded the file into Excel, everything looks very confusing. Widen the columns, I do this manually instead of a standard set up. Place your cursor at the column "joins" and you get an arrow meaning you can widen them. Once you have done this you will see all the details that you see in CMP, however you may not want to print all the details.

With Excel you can "hide" columns and then set up you "Print Area" and then print only the details you want.

OK, go to CMP and copy the selection to the clipboard (Ctrl-C will do it)

Open Excel at a blank workbook.

Select the top-left cell
Ctrl-V to past the text.

Don't select any other cells, just leave it selected as it is, then select 'Data' -> 'Text to Columns' from the top menu bar.

Step one of the process lets you choose between 'delimited' or 'fixed width', we want 'delimited' (should be the default option)

Click 'Next'

In the 'Delimiters' section un-tick 'Tab' and click 'Comma'

Then click 'Next'

Step 3 lets you change cell formats, we don't need to change anything so just click 'Finish'

You should now have one column with names, and a second column with their KUIDs.

Mike.

(The above was in Excel 2003, other versions should be roughly the same)

EDIT: if you try this with the TRS2006 CMP it isn't comma-delimited so when you paste the listing you just need to change the column widths.
