is there a way of doing this simpley

mango madness
hi all,
i'm currently building a route in two parts because of the size of it
what i need to know is there a simple way of getting the ground textures from stage one to stage two
it's a route based in outback queensland and the textures are pretty much the same exept for suttle changes
at the merge point i need it to be the same
i've got a couple of test routes with the same textures,i know if i delete a hell of a lot of baseboards keep what i want, merge it, then copy it and paste on the route i'll have the same textures
i'm just seeing if there's an easier way to do it

cheers,
patchy

Hi Patchy,

I also use similar textures through out my route. What I do is copy and paste them without pasting the objects and height information. I then vary the textures a bit for the new areas, sometimes adding new ones, sometimes just varying the older ones a bit.

The only time you'd want to completely change the textures would be if you're modeling something like desert versus high grass savanna, although then you'd use some kind of transitioning textures to bring the two areas together.

Hope this helps.

John

What a lot of route builders do is have an overlap board, the last of part one becomes the first of part two. Any one merging just needs to delete that baseboard and the texture will match without fail. But this means you delete all baseboards except the last one, save it and merge with the second map. If ive got a big route that I know will need splitting up I do the baseboard on the split and save it. Then build the route out from it in one direction and save as a different name. Then I use the same board again and build out in the opposite direction and save that as a different name. I now have the two sections plus the joining section just incase.
