Is there a trick to entering the Tranz serial number to use the program ?

Hi there,
I've just loaded my Trainz simulator 12 to a new PC but the serial number on the back of my booklet is being rejected. I've tried all manner of combinations, upper case ' lower case with and with out the dash - between every four characters. I was wondering if there is trick to typing it in. At the moment the only thing I can access is this forum through my membership of some time. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using Windows 8.1 and the program appeared to load ok, and opens to the front page where all the function button are, ie: Start - Options - Content - Manual etc. When I press start, I get a window that asks for the serial number but it refuses to accept it. Thanks. :'(

Welcome to the forums.

Make sure you are running the program as administrator. Right-click and choose Run as Administrator, or go to the properties then compatibility tab and set the option there (checkbox).

This should allow your program to save the preferences it's supposed to like your registration.

I think you just enter in the number as it is including the dashes. I can't remember because I always copied and pasted my serial number in from a text file I created, or afterwards from the registration screen on My Trainz once I updated the information there.

Hi, thanks for welcome. I've been a member since 2013 but haven't made a forum comment until now.
I went to MyTrainz and copy / pasted my serial number into the Admin properties box that appears when I click on the Start Trainz button but it still refuses to accept the serial. This is really strange as it can not be anything else but that serial number. Got me beat.

Did you omit the dashes between the groups of characters. I didn't the first time I tried to register and it didn't work.

You need to just type in the alphanumeric characters one after another in a single string with no dashes.

:)
