Is there a better CMP?

Hi;
I am really tired of having to use CMP. It's always slow, often totally broken, and now if I go to edit in CCP, I must shut down CMP before CCP will show up. Then I have to restart CMP to commit the changes I made in CCP (or perhaps I have missed an obvious way to commit from CCP).

Just to be sure, I installed SP1 (again, I think) because I couldn't recall whether I had done it after my crash last year and couldn't find SP1 on my hard drive so I probably did not re-install it.

It would be really great if one of you super-programmer people would feel like writing a new CMP. Could even sell it to us TRS addicts.

There's a very easy way to solve that problem with no programing involved at all. Just do as I did, throw '06 in the trash and start playin' '04.
Problem solved.

Do you have service pack one installed for me installing this fix almost all my CMP problems and made it much more stable.

I had issues with '04 as well, and now that I've done so much in '06, there's really no going back.
Did CMP (or it's equiv) really work better in '04?

Yup! They call it TO, (TrainzObjectz), a 3rd party app that is 10 times better then CMP ever thought of being. IMHO

Hello FW, 'fraid not, TrainzObjectz (TO) was created for earlier versions of Trainz, i.e. UTC and TRS2004. CMP is supposed to be the new TO of TRS2006 and TC, but it has had its technical difficulties since the new year, that's why so many Trainzers have now gone back to TRS2004. I haven't got rid of my TRS2006 just yet, unlike steamdrivre, it's collecting dust on the shelf at present, and I'm uncertain when it will make another appearance on my PC....:hehe:

From what I can see, TO does not work with TRS2006.

You didn't mention whether you installed SP1 right after doing a clean install of '06. It' important that you do it properly or it doesn't work properly.

Thought that having to close CMP to open CCP was just something that happened on my computer. Have re-installed 2004 a couple of weeks ago and am in the process of error checking in TRS2006 before sending to 2004, might make it run a bit smoother. Trainz Objectz can do a lot more than CMP and Vista Mare combined. Probably won't entirely shut down 2006 at least it's good for error checking. TC is OK but has so little useful built-in content. I posted a thread in Suggestion box car asking if a route editing tool with the ability to replace textures, track and scenery objects similar to Trainz Objectz could be included with a future CMP. Apperently off topic for some reason.

Yes, I believe I did install SP1 immediately after re-installing TRS2006.
But I re-installed SP1 two days ago because I wasn't sure. The effect was only to reset my preferences.

Did you re-apply SP1 after having used trainz? In that case it was not applied to a clean install. Am I on the right track here?

Yes. I re-applied SP1 after having run TRS2006.
I don't want to do another clean install now that I have changed the names of most of my content (re-named so that I can more easily sort through them), unless I could back up the asset database and re-use on the clean install.

Things have not been working too badly of recent. The database is being refreshed most times I open CMP, and when it does hang, I usually close and re-start and it will often make a connection.
