invisible train causes chaos

Ok so its not exactly causing chaos but it is invisible. Earlier today I placed an engine and coaches on a track. Saved the game and came back to it a little while ago. Train not there so I assumed I had not saved it. that was untill I tried to place another in the same location and got the following message:

Error: Cannot add train as there is already a train at this location on a hidden layer.

So how do I make it visible to use or how can I get rid of it? I cant select it but I know its there. Funny thing is if I switch from surveyor to driver mode I can see the smoke

Hook it up to more locos and cars, and hit "Delete Consist button".

tried that but I cannot couple anything to it in surveyor mode. Ive also noticed that I have a second train that is also invisible but in a different section of the layout
