Installation horrors

Y'know, there must be the Marquis De Sade working in the Trainz installation department. I don't usually rant, but guys, your installation system really needs to be improved. OK, here's my story. I had both TRS2009 and 2010 installed on my lenovo PC. I used 2010 as the basic clean operation (minimum third party gear, usually limited to rolling stock) and 2009 as my "loaded" version. I also have TC on the Lenovo. That's the background. Today I ordered Settle & Carsile via a digital download. First of all, your instructions are not very clear as to what steps are required to get the software after payment has been accepted, but I eventually got through that and was able to start the installation. Having heard some horror stories about loading the S&C into TRS2009, I chose the "stand alone" option, assuming that this would leave my copy of TRS2009
unaffected and I would have the S&C as a separate item, like TC to run. When S&C installed, my TS2009 icon stayed where it was, but no S&C icon came up, because it had replaced my TS2009 program in my computer. I have now lost all my TRS2009 items, routes and everything I have done over the years with it. I checked the program folder and TS2009 has been "gutted". Not only that, I now have the S&C without the ability to use Surveyor. Guys, you REALLY need to do better in designing conflict free installation. Now, if there is a simple way to restore my original TRS2009, I'd love to hear it, so I'll wait and hope somebody has a suggestion.:'(

"Click" (Sound of a 30 caliber round being loaded into a 30/30 Winchester lever action rifle).

Actually, I decided to uninstall the S&C pack, then I cleaned out the data from my TS2009 directory. I'll do a full reinstall of TS2009 (I have that on disc) then I'll update TS2009 to the latest build, then I will install S&C INTO TS2009 instead of making it stand alone. That way I can use Content Mgr. Of course, all the stuff I added to TS2009 has been nuked, but you have to start somewhere! I have all my extra rolling stock and a few of my favorite routes on CD's, Or I can get some of the ones I made for Virtualrailroader.com downloaded again from the site.

What I don't understand is why, when you tell the installation to make the pack separate from TS2009, why did it replace TS2009? That is something I cannot figure out. I followed all the proper steps and was SHOCKED, SHOCKED to find I had blown away my main TS2009 program.

Well, enough griping, time to make lemonade from that lemon.
