Industry Settings

Hi Guys, I understand how to change the properites of an Industry but I have question (i.e. A Pulp Mill. The setting is set to consume 10000 and to produce 8 goods.) What does the 10000 and 8 represent? What are the Max and min settings? And is there a list of all the Industries and what the setting represent?

I hope this isn't a dumb question and hope this is written down somewhere.

Thanks

In the case of a pulp mill, the 10000 would be units of wood chips and the 8 would be boxes of general goods.

Maximum and general settings will depend on how the active industry was created. The Minimum value in all industries is always 0.

The Basic Industry New, for example, has a fairly complex and often difficult to understand system of assigning values for industry products. One of the tabs (the last one I think) that appear in the properties will determine the measurement units (litres, tonnes, items). The maximum units will appear as a selectable value in the first tab (if memory serves me) - this can be altered.

There are 4 kinds of products in Trainz. Containers, Bulk Loads, Liquid Loads and Passengers.
For Containers and Passengers the values are units and their mass is calculated in kilograms/unit.
For Liquid and Bulk the values are liters and their mass is calculated in kilograms/liter.
A kilogram=2.2 pounds
A liter=33.8 ounces

There isn't a list of all the industries and what they handle but the is this old graphic that shows some of them.

To which I would add ...
Livestock (mostly sheep, cattle) - individual units (e.g. 6 cattle per wagon)
Cars, machinery (e.g. harvesters & tractors) - again individual units (e.g. 2 tractors per flat car)

Bulk loads can mean a hopper full of coal or wheat, or it can mean a load of individual logs, crates, pipes, etc
