Indoor lighting

Slave to my route
A while back I though I came across something like a "light wall" asset that I believe would light up a building without a night mesh, but has see through windows. Seems it was only a simple plane that was very bright and I'm guessing come on at night to light an interior of a building. Any idea what this asset was called and if it works as I hope?

Dave,

I think I found what you're looking for.

User jfweaver made a series of "Nightlite" meshes which can be added to buildings.

They are TRS2004-era but should work anyway, though might need a repair.

Look for kuid:151142:119027:1 and up.

Only this one is needed?

Because there are dozens of nightlights from the same author?
I don't want to download all at forehand.

EDIT:

Hmmmm... I thought it would light up the windows as you put it inside a building, but this one is only producing a bunch of illuminated windows like a flatbuilding or a high office building.
More for backgrounds I think.

Thanks, but sadly that's not it. If I may ask if a content creator out there could make a simple wall that is invisible in the day time and at night "light up" with a simple soft yellow or white light?

I'm guessing an asset like this <kuid:7592:120801> Halloween Grim Reaper 2D. In the day there is nothing there, but at night the ghost comes out much like how I think a night light wall could work inside a building.

This wall of windows, created by the kuid above, maybe the texture can be changed.
It's doing the right thing: at day invisible, at night visible.
It only has to be a lot smaller.
Not only the texture but the mesh too.

There are dozens made by the same author, maybe there is a small one already.
Have to download them all... and try.

Well good news I finally found want I though I was looking for and it turned out to be light strips by Dinorius_Redundicus. The problem was that the assets sat on the ground and could be rotated, but using them were very impractical. I contacted Dino and due to his generosity and expertise he make a whole series of horizontal light strips to be used to light up buildings with see-through windows. Take a look at the before and after effects below.

Thank you so much Dino! I am hoping he releases for other route builders to use.

It's the new vertical light strips that you're using on the windows there Dave. A typo I presume. I don't know why I didn't do vertical ones before, I guess I didn't see how they could be useful until I got your request. So thanks for that.

They may look a bit "dim" compared to regular night windows. This is because they are transparent enough to show the interior of the building (which I think is an important property of a window). You can intensify the brightness by placing 2 or more light strips in parallel, but beware that this reduces the transparency. At least you have a choice about the balance.

I will be releasing updates of the original horizontal strips and the new vertical versions to the DLS shortly. They will all be trainz-build 4.2 assets.

What a great idea and thank you, Deane.

Being dim for nighttime is fine for big industrial buildings that are shutdown and only have a few light banks lit up for security.
