Indeo codec

Hi Folks.

I am just getting back into Trainz and am still running my original UTC. I am planning to upgrade soon. However, after installing UTC and trying to launch, I get a black screen crash. I now know that I need an Indeo codec to be installed. I did not need this before. I have installed XP SP3. Perhaps this is the cause. Indeo no longer provide free codecs.

Does anyone have any info on what I should do now?

I think the only need for the codec is to play the opening video. You can make Trainz bypass that stupid video by adding a line to your trainzoptions.txt file. The line is
-intro=disable

You should also add the line
-showkuids
which will cause Surveyor to display the kuid numbers of objects in a route. Very useful in conjunction with asset lists in TO or CMP.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I thought it might be for the intro. I'll disable it like you suggest. I am not up to speed with the workings of Trainz and did not know about that txt file.
