Of course. That's how most people make engine sounds, is to record the actual engine sound. Most people use field recorders or video recorders, and record them and upload the audio files.
Field recorders have much higher quality audio than video recorders, but are definitely a pretty penny. Like the Ediral R-09, which is probably the best one I've used in recording live shows and stuff.
