Importing TC3 assets into TRS2009

Hi

I have successfully imported various assets into TRS2009 and although most report some form of error they all, in the most part, work and appear without problem.

This is not the case with locomotives created by "lielestosbrat" and in particular "Evening Star" and "Black Prince". I have spent many hours pouring over the files and can't see any reason that would prevent them from operating, albeit with errors, in TRS2009. As far as I can make out I have all the dependencies and they work fine in TC3.

In both cases they are excellent models that I would like to use and I have gone as far as buying payware versions but these do not have the same detail as those based in TC3 by "lielestosbrat".

Am I missing something obvious or is there something I need to do or is it the case that they will just not work in TRS2009.

Any help / advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

Martin

Well, what errors do they show in 2009? Are they heavily scripted? I've read that TC3 grade locomotives should work without error in 2009, apparently not!

Hi

I imported TC3 assets a couple of weeks ago into TR2009 including Evening Star & Black Prince. Just been into TR09 now and placed both in a layout and they work perfectly. Possibly download them from TC3 website and import them as CDP files - or did you do that? I think that is what I did. A few files are not imported into TR2009 when you do it through the edit method. May be that is one of the locos it applies to?

Anyway they do work on my system so it should be possible for you to get it working - good luck - I agree, they are beautifully modeled.

Hi
Thanks for the interest.

The assets are scripted.

There are many kuid's associated with these assets (nearly 100) and the errors all seem to point to "BR Standard 9f Cab Black AWS,<kuid2:101839:52044:4>" this has the following missing dependencies:
<kuid:101839:52048>
<kuid:101839:52050>
<kuid:101839:52051>
<kuid:101839:52052>
<kuid:101839:52053>
<kuid:101839:52054>
<kuid:101839:52055>
<kuid:101839:52056>
<kuid:101839:52057>
<kuid:101839:52058>
<kuid:101839:52059>
<kuid:101839:52060>
<kuid:101839:52061>
none of which I can find any source for.

These when I looked in "Content Creator Plus" appear to be various smal parts in the cab. I've tried removing reference to them in the config.txt file without any effect.

I have even tried reinstalling TC3 so I could control where the assets are stored and there is nothing in the TC3/Local directory and I am at a loss to see where the assets are stored.

I've downloaded from the original site and when I try to install them it says they are already installed.

I like a mystery but this is beginning to irritate me considerably. It is now a matter of principal that I get the 9F family working.

These are built-ins in TC3, you'll need to get them from there.

It did have an effect, you've now broken it completely I expect. You will need to replace it to get the original back.

I have even tried reinstalling TC3 so I could control where the assets are stored and there is nothing in the TC3/Local directory and I am at a loss to see where the assets are stored.

As they are built-in items they won't be in the local folder. To get access to them you'll need to open them for edit in CMP and they will then appear in the editing folder. Copy them into TS2009 from there.

I've downloaded from the original site and when I try to install them it says they are already installed.

Which site? installed them to where, TC3 or TS2009?

Mike.

Thanks Mike

Hi Mike

Thanks for the info / advice, I have to go out right now but will have another crack at it this evening. I'll let you know progress later.

Cheers

I had exactly the same problem with the 9f's. It seems that 2009 Content Manager will not pick up updated built-in assets in former versions. That is why you cannot find them when searching the TC3 content.

I made sure all the 9f's were updated in TC3 from the website and then transferred the entire built-in content of TC3 to TS2009 (only about 2,300 items). After transferring all my custom content as well via cdp's all four engines now work perfectly in 2009.

You might get away with just the 'TC3 built-in' transfer and then reload the latest update of 9'f's from the TC3 website.

Good luck!

Solution at hand

Hi

Thanks everybody for the help and advice. I have now got "Evening Star" working in TR2009.

Ingha gave me the clue and now |I know what caused the lock-out I can, when I've got the time, sort the rest of the 9f's out.

For those interested it's a problem with version numbers and when you import the assets and then download updates the "config.txt" files get out of sync with what you have as current assets. The solution is very tedious and I had to methodically go through each asset making sure that the config.txt file was consistent with the dependent KUID asset version in the database.

Thanks again

Martin
