I can't figure out how to add more land. I have a Milwaukee road layout planned, but I'm stuck on the land. Already have buildings, roads, etc set up.
Please help.

Click on Topology tool - upper tool in Surveyor.
Click on Advanced.
Go to the edge where you want to add "more land".
Click add baseboard.

More land will appear.

The topology tools also allow you to sculpt the landscape, increase the height of hills, create valleys, add water, etc.

Under advanced you and also add in a displacement map to create mountains in one shot. It's a bit complicated to explain here.

Some of the basics are found here:

/N3V Games/Trainz A New Era/resources/extras, or go to wherever you installed T:ANE, whether it's a MAC or PC.

In that folder is TANE Manual.pdf

Another question, I'm building a complicated dock system. I cannot build docks. The splines sink. How do I do it?

Based on the questions you've been asking, may I suggest that you spend a little time watching a few video tutorials.

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Tutorial_Videos

At the last count there were 44 videos that cover a wide variety of subjects and are all beneficial. When you discover the answers to your own queries, you'll find creating a route so much simpler.

Good luck,
Roy

Congratulations on your new journey. You've only just scratched the surface here. Next you'll be looking at places as you drive by on the freeway and think to yourself how you can model that in Surveyor, and you'll see a complex yard in a video or real life and wonder how the AI can navigate that route without completely falling apart.

It happens, trust me. :D

As for splines, the simple answer was to raise the height (through 'advanced' at the bottom of tools.) A study of the manual would help although it's not overly detailed.

Also the Trainz Wiki (there is a link at the top of each page in these forums) is a valuable guide on how to do things, especially the "How-To Guide" (in the Navigation box on the top left of the first Wiki page).
