Neat sticker, Ed.

The last time I was in Arlington Heights was about 25 years ago. I stayed at the Best Western on Route 12, I think it was, while I did some repair work for Walgreens over in Mount Prospect at the Mount Prospect Plaza. They had their depot repair center in an old K-Mart along with their remote data center. I worked for the company that made those old Inter-com terminals they used in their stores, and had to go out and do a retro-fit and repairs on a shipment terminals sent to them.

The best thing about staying at that hotel was the view. I had a constant parade of freight trains and commuter trains all night. I don't remember sleeping more than 1/2 hour the first night I was there!

You'll be happy to know the Walgreens is still there, the Best Western has changed hands many times, and I live about square between the two right next to those tracks.;)

I probably drove by your house back then and didn't know it! :D I did some exploring when I was out there. I was in the area for about a week as I repaired a bunch of those old terminals. The old Ontel units were heavy beasts with lots of outdated technology even by those standards back then. These were those big brown ugly terminals with colored function keys. I can still see what they look like today.

When I was visiting the area, Walgreens was just expanding to the east coast here after they purchased some small pharmacy whose name has slipped into the deepest parts of my feeble mind!

Do you still get that nice parade of trains going by all day? Just wondering now that I'm thinking about it. :)

Just took a little tour via google street view. Looks like a nice neighborhood Ed.

I'm planning a little trip as we speak to Chicago via Amtrak from KC. I'll be staying closer to the city but who knows... maybe I'll end up in Arlington Heights at some point.
