if all the planets are lined up trs 2006 should work fine

mango madness
:'( i have been modeling trains for years, but due to my job i have to sell my lay out.then i discovered trainz 2006.learnt how to operate the sessions, then i said this is brilliant, lets get serious lets get into cmp and the problems started.after days of frustration i got it working(forums helped me ) the problem i have is when i am in cmp nothing is explained in detail what i need is a glossary of what all the icons mean because the manual only gives the basics.what the problem is,i seem to be trying to fix problems than enjoying the experience.

Well, what do you want to know? There are tutorials out there that might help. Paul Hobb's website has a tut on error fixing which is good, and you can always ask here. Don't worry about asking seemingly dumb questions.

There ya go.

the planets have not quite lined up all planets for trs 2006 to work

:) firstly i'd like to thank the replies i got.[paul hobbs manual and rail -sim .com uk]i have followed everything to a tee.sorted all my problems with trs 2006.i have installed sp 1 with no problems.BUT the drama i have is when i download it works.BUT where does it go to, once i have downloaded? [i have auto submit set up].i have not been able to find the downloaded items.ps when i go into CMP i get trainz error but if i double click i can get access CMP.[this is a worry] i am not a computer wizz but for the last month i have been troubleshooting instead enjoying what i like most is trains.

Patchy,

TRS2006 is loaded with bugs and is not a stable program. Many serious users of Trainz have switched back to TRS2004, which is very stable and has almost the same features as TRS2006.

My advice to you is to order a copy of TRS2004. Then you will enjoy a trouble free Trainz experience.:)

:) hi i am starting to come to that conclusion.but until i get my hands on a 2004 i will keep plugging away.maybe just maybe i might stumble on the problem. by the way, one good thing thats come from searching "forums" for answers is i have found a lot of imformation that will help me down the track. keep up the good work. cheers patchy.:)

All items are installed to the local folder. Not that it matters as I really would caution against messing with the contents of the folder. CMP manages content, that's what you should use.

What is the error?, if you give us a clue we may be able to help.

Mike.

I would consider that to be a complete load of rubbish.

With all due respect Mike, I suggest to you that as your join date indicates Nov 2006, perhaps the opinions of others (& their personal experiences with both TRS2004 & TRS2006) is worth more merit than rubbishing it?.

kind regards,

:)

My humble apologies Mike10,

& thanks for putting me straight Dreddman.

I still maintain that it's not "all rubbish";
ie the various complaints concerning TRS2006

regards,

:)

hi, i have been reconsidering my options.i will give you a run down on what is giving me greif in trs2006.when i open cmp i get "unable to register trainz url registry key" click it twice and i am in cmp.i have cmp user giude from "uktrainz"very helpful.followed giude to the letter no problems at all.here is the annoying part.the way i read it is after the download is complete i commit [i have auto commit] then if i launch trainz through cmp i should have my downloads. but i get nothing.THIS IS MY NEMISUS. by the way i have sp1 installed i am going to stick with trs2006 because ithink i am a whisker away of fixing this problem. i have got to go away for few days with a bit of luck i might have fix to this problem when i get back. cheers, patchy

You are running Vista, that is the problem, not CMP. Search for threads that tell you how to install correctly under Vista. In fact searching this Forum for your error message would have given you the information long before now.

If your downloads are committed and all the dependancies are also there you must be able to see the downloads in Surveyor.

hi,i have i already done what was recommended in "forums" and "manuals" but when i was in town the other day i bought a copy of TC with vista.got home installed and bang straight into CMP no problems. did a download and still could'nt find it.but what i found instresting is when i open the programme file, open bin, then open trainz, i get FATAL ERROR in TC and 2006. as i've stated i'm not a computer whiz, but to me this don't seem right to be like this in both games. i,m going to get this right even it kills me. i'm hoping to get an answer through "forums" or any other source. cheers, patchy
