IE9 problems with 'New Posts' link

twarner

Around since 2001
I've upgraded to IE 9 (Windows 7) and now the 'New Posts' and 'Today's Posts' links both display the message "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

This is doubly weird because my laptop machine, (also upgraded but running Vista) still works as before and displays everything correctly.

Have any of you computerphiles out there got any ideas about this?

Terry

IE9 is a beta version, so it is not guaranteed to work (one reason why I went back to IE8, and yes, I'm also running Windows 7)

Shane

Yes, I knew it was beta Shane but just wondered if anyone could explain the reasons or if I was alone with the problem.

IE9 was released on the 14th of this month, no longer a Beta but the real deal.
Haven't bothered with it myself, as I only use Firefox.

Date and time correct on the PC?

Just had another thought - check your cookie settings, as cookies may be being used for that data.

Also, try the 'mark all forums read' link at the bottom of the forums.

Shane

I'm using IE9 right now with no problems. I delete my cookies often so as Shane said this maybe your problem.

OK. I went to internet explorer tools, internet options, browsing history, delete. On top there is a box that says "preserve favorite website data".
Uncheck that and delete your history. Then you will need to log back into the forum. Apparently explorer expects us to log on every time.

Tried that. No difference.

Don't forget that I don't have this problem with my laptop where I haven't done anything except upgrade to IE9 and then left all default options.

If you can, check the About box to see whether it still thinks it's the beta version or not (you can access this via the ? button, or the Help menu - look for About Internet Explorer).

two words
G O O G L E C H R O M E

But IE is not beta any more
I hope the final relise is better than the beta
Anyone have anything to say about the final relise

I know the final release is out now, but I haven't seen it on Automatic Updates, so some people may still have the beta version (if it did not update itself from within the program)

Shane

I have version 9.0.8112,16421 which seems to be the latest because when I tried to install the 'latest' version I was told 'Could not continue because a later version was already installed'

Terry

Thanks a lot for your suggestions Shane.

My laptop gives the same version of IE9.

I've discovered that 'searching' for 'latest' gives me the latest posts so there's a way around it. :)
