The problem is passwords etc can be stolen this certainly applies to IE7 and probably applies to earlier versions. If you wish to continue to use Internet Explorer I would recommend you do not use it for credit cards or accessing bank accounts on line. If you have been using IE you may wish to change your Auran passwords.

The vulnerability was found after hackers had already stolen passwords.

Sorry if I seem rude, but it's actually news that there's a security flaw in IE?!?!?! :p

IE 8 Beta/FF3 here, mostly FF3. IE8 for testing websites and nothing else.

This one unfortunately is fairly basic and there is no security patch developed yet.

I stopped using IE years ago.
In fact, my firewall will stop IE having any connection at all, should an instance of it be invoked by another program. :D

It's hard to believe that so many people still use it.
Then again, they've got no-one else to blame have they?

Not to be rude, but smoking in a propane refilling station is also dangerous.

IE is crap. Everyone should know to download Firefox, and never look back.
 
I've been using IE8 since the beta started. None of the same issues in IE7. It works the same. I tried FF, but didn't like it.

I agree with Robby. This is actually news? A Microsoft product with a flaw?

:cool: Microsoft issued no less than twelve security vulnerability updates for all Microsoft utilities including IE-7, Excel Viewer, Word Viewer, Works 8, six for Vista, one week ago on December 9, 2008. Two updates for Windows Defender on 12/12 & today, 12/16.

And then there is the fact of life that Microsoft depends on third party Internet security software...everyone knows this, mine is Norton 360...this time. I was Kaspersky last time.

I'm not saying to ignore the BBC, they have had fantastic music interviews & documentaries in my lifetime.

Neither do I decry FireFox...use it if you got it...

I guess I've never had a problem. The only reason I haven't switched over to Firefox completely is that some of the sites I visit don't show up correctly :confused: . Then again, I pretty much only visit this and other trainz forums so it shouldn't be too much of a problem...

One question though, is there an easy way to move all of the sites in "My Favorites" between browsers?

If my memory serves me correctly, when I installed Firefox, it did ask if I wanted to transfer my cookies ( favourites ) across from Internet Explorer, but, I declined.....Now, after having installed about 100 website addresses for all my Trainz stuff, it was a bit of a silly thing to do, however, if this virus attacks your IE favourited items, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea at all.
I read on the IE forum, that so many people were unhappy with IE 7 and 8, crashing systems, etc, that I made the switch, and after a bit of tuition I have now got everything to hand in FF, and it's so much easier to use than IE as well.......

I installed FireFox yesterday, from the link in the first post, and it automatically imported all my favorites from IE. Very quick and painless installation.

I can highly recommend you looking around the addons section, as there are some great addons in there that I personally could not do without for an extended period of time. Such as dictionaries, skins, etc.
 
Personally, i stopped using IE years ago, partially because it was generally crap, and partially because it would load the frist page then freeze.

Now I'm using Firefox and Safari :)

KB960714 addresses Windows Internet Explorer Security issues... :confused: ...so far...

A restart is required. :'(

Norton 360 contains my passwords, so I deleted the entire browser history. ;)

So many(about 50 million) computers will go online as usual this season, so I can understand how there will be millions without Internet Security in about 3 months, if they even activate the free add-on packs that are given with the OS. :eek:

Browsers such as FireFox don't really have problems simply because Microsoft cornering the market put the OS into the hands of many who were able to do something about being ticked off when things went wrong...it's not about Microsoft being the most vulnerable, simply being out there at such a large market of "taggers..." :udrool:

This is why MS has from time to time actually hired hackers to attack the vulnerabilities OS to engineer the software against such. :p

My point would be your computer, Operating System, Internet Security, etc is only as affective as you wish it to be... :D
