You can run Trainz without Steam just use the launcher.exe in the "bin" directory. Just copy Trainz to another directory. If it is a Steam version, Steam must be left installed, otherwise it's likely to remove Trainz as well.

Geez, that is not how my TS2009 works! I can run it off my backup copy and the one on my old hard-drive in a dock. I even run my copy in Steam from the "bin launcher.exe". All without Steam being "live".It may be, but the Steam Client must still be installed, as the Trainz files are managed by the client.

You guys probably screwed up TS12!

Updating on Steam is a moot point, it took you guys two years to patch TS2009 on Steam. I found out about the Steam TS2009 patch on my old computer when I loaded up Railworks and Trainz updated. The user of Steam TS12 will probably have moved onto the next iteration of Trainz before the TS12 is updated on Steam.Might be due to the way that TS2009 has been modified so it is not updateable. Not sure about later versions, because if Steam do release a patch, then Steam needs to have the ability to manage the game.
