Subways and railroads
im currently working on the LIRR Budd M3 since no one has the patience or courage to do it. im going to put up pics of my work so far using google sketchup. these are my favorite railroad cars ever

When you post your pictures, I would advise doing it in the Screenshots forum or Freeware (if it's going to be a free route) or Payware (if it's going to be a paid-for route) Announcements.

I suggest you use Blender, sketchup isn't especially efficient for Trainz models.

Actually, it is. I've had a lot of success in creating content using SketchupPro; I even texture the models in Sketchup and after exporting them to .3ds and .im from GMax, everything else shows up. However, you have to use all photo textures in your model. The named colors in Sketchup won't really show up in GMax--it's been my experience anyway.

But, on the topic at hand--good luck with the train cars Jamal!

The reference to efficiency is related to the game performance. There is an overhead of 200 poly equivalents for each texture file and 300 per mesh. Sketchup typically uses more than one texture file. Trainz models are rendered in real time so the number of polys and textures matter, Sketchup is designed to be rendered once so it isn't so sensitive to inefficient models. If you want to really hit performance use Sketchup and .jpg files.
