Michigan Trainz
Today, I went with my friend Mike from my area down the CSX Plymouth Sub (Runs west off of the CSX Saginaw Sub in Plymouth, Michigan) and followed the line to Lansing, Michigan. We came across Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railroad picking-up a set-out from CSX and we waited and it went the other direction without notice. :'( Then later on a TSBY Hi-rail truck ran by with a hi-rail Semi following that was spraying weed killer and we had to race to get the truck away from the spraying. The TSBY runs twice a day and their tracks look better than CSX
. Later following the CSX we came twords Fowlersville and there is a ADM plant where a FRISCO Alco S2 still in great shape in FRISCO, assembles the trains for the nearby CSX GEs to take to Toledo. Then we went to MSU (Michigan State University) where right on Campus the 2 CN tracks pass Amtrak Station and right behind it the CSX crosses CN at an angle and we missed the Amtrak, so we went to pick-up our friend Greigg that lives in a neighborhood behind the Amtrak area. We then went back to Amtrak so see CN trains roll-by, then we went across the street behind us to veiw the MSU Coal Plant that CSX drops off coal cars that their MSU Spartan-Themed GE 45 Tonner shunts with a Crane Car with a shovel; scoops the coal. We went to CSX's Yard in Lansing where NS's Belt Line merges with CSX for 3 miles to the CSX Yard where the NS splits-off and goes to NS's Saginaw Yard that is nearly dead cause all of it's business was the Chevy Designer plant that surrounds the yard in ruins from demolitions. Then we went over to where it ends on CN (from East Lansing at MSU from before) and saw a GTW GP9 shunting and a ex-Central of Georgia GP9 high hood was working at the power plant and across the street was Cory Yard on CN that is not even a year old! We caught a CN coming and raced onto the overpass by foot and got a great bridge shot with an IC SD40 trailing the 25mph speed ristriction. We went back to the CSX Yard where we saw a Chessie caboose where it has been sitting in rubble when it went through the shed 2 years ago and distroyed EVERYTHING including the back wall and was sitting there for atleast 2 years. Later on we ate at Wendy's by the CN/ CSX diamond. We raced East of town to catch CSX trains of leased power blowing past us in the rain and later getting twords Dusk the CP X500 to Detroit cleared with a leading SOO SD60 and me and Mike dropped-off Gregg and raced the train back to his area where we went on a road bridge made out of RAILROAD TIES and got a great arial picture as the X500 roared under me and the train's exhaust blew my hat off and the autoracks came 6 inches below my shoes under the bridge making me sick! :hehe: . We went back to Mike's house and I drove home. His truck has flashing orange light and stuff like a high antenna that kinda looks like a CN MOW Truck
. I have MANY MANY pictures I'm going to upload including the aftermath of the caboose breaking through the shed. It was truely a awsome day I will never forget! -Chris
