I Know It Can Be Done, But I Don't Know How To Do It!

Hi Smiley,

I adapted the setup you sent me and added it to the layout that I am building, and I'm pleased to say that it worked perfectly. So thank you for that.

I said that I had just bought TRS2006. I've bought it, but I can't use it until I've installed SP1, because SP1 has to be installed into a brand new 'un-run' installation of TRS2006.

I can't install SP1 because I keep getting an error report. My edition is supplied by Just Flight and they are are supposed to be sorting it out for me!

Ian

Hi Ian.

Good to hear that you got it working.
Like I said earlier, getting the AI to work how you want is just as much fun as driving, and it's great when it finally works.

Here's hoping they sort out your TRS2006 problem.
Did you use the right patch? :D

Smiley.

Yes, it was the right patch. It was for Build 2773, which is the only one that Just flight do anyway, but it's definitely my Build.

Ian

Smileyman, Interesting example/discussion.
Appreciate a link to your session as your site does not list it... yet:eek:

Hi Ess.

I'm currently trying to finish off my Motor Racing assets for upload this week, as well as update the Retail Park assets for TRS2004 for upload at the same time.
On top of this, I'm finishing off a non-Trainz related website for upload, and working on the TrainzLab update with the new tutorial and the download of the example layout/session.

:D:D:D

If for some reason I can't get all this done by this weekend, I will at least upload the layout/session to my site.
Either way, I'll post in this thread when it's ready to download.

Cheers,
Smiley.

Hi Smiley,
Thanks for prompt reply. Good luck with your 'chores'
Will d/l you session for Heartbeat & see what I can crib from Surveyor

Hi all.

I started to adapt what I've explained in this thread into a new tutorial on my website, but I didn't have time to finish it tonight.

So it will be up sometime tomorrow (Saturday) along with download link to the layout and session that demonstrates the swapping of wagons/carriages between 2 locos automatically.
The download will be for TRS2006 only I'm afraid, as this was the version the layout and session was created in.

Cheers,
Smiley.

The layout and session (TRS2006 only) that demonstrates the above automation is now uploaded to my TrainzLab website, as well as the tutorial adapted from this thread.

I've updated a few other areas of the site too.
Check out the News page for details.

Have fun,
Smiley.

Smiley, thanks for efforts and info but, blowed if I can see it.
Best, blind of Salop:eek:

Hehe.

You're probably reading a cached version of the site from your computer if you visited my site recently, before the update.

Clearing your browser cache should do it, or you can just hit refresh when you've navigated to the tutorial page, forcing your browser to download the latest version.

:D

Eeek! Cannot run session due to script not recognised.
Strange message as this is for TRS06...

Do you have SP1 installed.
Can't see anything else that would give an error.

Unless some of the content has errors.
I know there's only a few items of content, but maybe some of them show errors in CMP.

Smiley.

TRS08?
I haven't heard of that one! :p

I expect it's a piece of content then.
I'd make sure you have all the dependencies and then fix them all in CMP.

I think I left one of those station clocks in there (I was playing around with it when I was making the test layout).

Try deleting that and saving the layout/session.
Also, you could try replacing the locos with built-in ones, but you'll need to edit the session to use the new locos in the Driver Commands rule (only a few clicks).

Let me know if you find out what it is.
If it's anything I've used in the layout/session, then I can remove it and upload a new version.

Cheers,
Smiley.

Disappearing Orders!

 I got Smileyman's demo going in TRS2004, so I thought I'd set up a
similar situation in a layout I've just started in TRS2006.

I seem to have hit a problem though - After Loco 2 (Adair) couples at trackmark "Couple", his next command is to drive to Trackmark 1, and so on.

But this doesn't happen. After the loco has coupled, there is a short delay and then all of his subsequent orders are deleted! There is no message or comment whatsoever, all his orders just disappear!

I have tried changing the radius of trackmark "couple", and moving its position slightly, but all to no avail.

Does anyone know what's happening here?

That's a strange one.

The first thing that I can think of is that you may have changed the name of the trigger/trackmark since you added the command to drive to it.
This would mean that the command is being told to drive to a trackmark/trigger that no longer exists.

I know that if you delete or change the name of an industry after setting up the commands, that TRS is pretty good at noticing it and displays a large red X in the command bar to let you know, but I'm not sure if it would pick up the same error with a changed trigger/trackmark name.

If that's not it, try downloading the Layout and Session from my website for comparison.

Smiley.

I made a point of keeping the original names of trackmarks and triggers, so I don't think that's the cause.
When I copied the original demo into TRS2004, it worked perfectly!
So when I created this one in TRS2006 I used the identical names once again, although, this time it's part of a bigger layout.

I think I'll download your demo from your website, Smileyman, and we'll see what happens!

Ian

Smileyman - Yours works perfectly. Mine doesn't.
All of Adair's commands disappear, the moment that his loco couples at trackmark!

Ian

That's really odd. I made a route following Smiley's directions after the first post and it works perfectly in '06. Are Alistair and Adair the only drivers or are there other trains?
