I got off track....

Ok guys. I set up my first "Scenario" Really one with no certain goals i just got a map that i like and started playing it. Trying to satisfy the industry, which is really tough.

I set up mulitple trains on the Megaroute. I think i had about 10 trains set up. using the AI to run some of them (man those guys do some stupid stuff) and running a few myself or setting up the trains at the Seaport.

I was at one of the sawmills in need of woodchips. Had the AI set to load, but he WOULD NOT LOAD. in my frustration i tried it myself. Still no woodchips. It said they have some. I stopped under the loader, i rolled slowly under the loader. nothing.

In my frustration i got off track and derailed the train. NOW WHAT? is my session, with about 2.5 hours of time in it, ruined? How do you re rail the train?

Also i seem to be having an issue with the scenarios im trying to set up. I go into surveyor, set up all my trains, then save and go into driver. I drive and run my stuff for an hour. Then i notice that i missed having a certain rolling stock. How do i save at that point, then get the scenario back into surveyor to make changes. it seems that i loose my playing time and have to go back to the begining.

Are you useing rollingstock that is for woodchips?

You might add the rerail portal. Here is the kuid and a summary.
Re-rail Portal,<kuid2:116387:5:1>
Adds the ability to re-rail trains/vehicles
- Monitors the whole map for de-railed trains.
- Choose to re-rail or delete the derailed train.
- Choose to filter the de-railed trains that can be handled by this portal.
- The trains will be re-railed with their current driver, schedule and vehicle loads (where applicable).

Making any changes makes it a new session. Therefore to see the changes, you have to start this new session.

Yeah i had them labled for wood chips so i know they would carry them. Just doesnt make sense. I went to the same lumberyard and picked up lumber so i know it was a working industry.

Cool. I will look that up. I gather this will be listed as an asset and i put it on each layout that i want it on? or does it automatically get attacked to each layout?

I guess before you start a session you better make sure you have made all of the changes that you want and added all the rolling stock that you want or you would loose all your progress.

Right. You have to place the rerail portal in the route just like an other portal. Adding/deleting an asset to a route in Surveyor will result in creation of a new route when you save it. Adding/deleting any locos or rolling stock to a session will result in a new session when you save it.

Of course, this is not the case if you add the locos or rolling stock via an "I Portal", which, like the "Rerail Portal" is a must for any route you plan to do extended operations on.

Im pretty dense guys so help me out here to make sure i understand.

I download a route. It is in surveyor.

I go into surveyor and make some changes/add rolling stock/whatever and when i go and save that it becomes a scenario. the route remains the same as it did when i first opened it up.

Then i go into Driver and i can play the scenario i have created. I can save the scenario as i go along with mulitple saves but the "route" remains the same it was when i downloaded from the DLS. No rolling stock, etc.

Even though i am saving the "scenario" i have created i can not go back, pull up the scenario, and make changes to it after having played the scenario for a while. This would be a new starting point and i would have to place all of my rolling stock over again on the original route.

If that is the case it makes it hard on a beginner like me that may not understand what rolling stock goes with what industry.

Also, when you guys download a route, what do you do? Place rolling stock, build trains, and try and keep up with the waybills?

The issue is see with waybills is while it says "30 40ft containers needed at seaport 1" Which is fine, it doesnt tell me where in the heck to get the containers from. I spend half my time trying to search the map on the find thing to find a place that has containers, or woodchips, or better yet someone that PRODUCES general goods. On the Megaroute everyone wants general goods but very few places produce them. Its a lot to try and keep up with, especially when the AI trains are so darn dumb that you cant rely on them getting the job done.

Im getting just a little frustrated and i dont want to give up playing the game because im the one being stupid while trying to play.
