I fear, this is the end of my Trainz journey...

3Ds MAX will be my demise
G'day... :'(

I fear, none of you may hear from me again, as some of you may have already heard, no matter how hard I try, I cannot get my Trainz game to work... Re-installing doesn't seem to help. And it's all thanks to that KernelStandard_7c.dll file... Don't you just love technology? :( Anyway, I will try a little more to fix Trainz, if not, Trainz will be on the top shelf, in my cupboard, for always and always and always... This may be the last stop for me. I want to thank the whole Trainz forum for all the help they've givin me, the brilliant ideas people have thought of, and best of all, the friendly atmosphere of the forum. Thanks! :) Happy Trainzing!

Cheers... :(

to be sure

isn't there someone in south Australia that can go over to rastis place and help sort this out .
what are your computer spec
what os are you running under
what version of trainz,
really first off i would reformat the computer then install your os and up date all computer drivers then only install trainz software after that first make sure you computer is not connected to the internet while installing trainz,
if trainz is running well then download all new updates don't use other one's you may have saved.
if then trainz is still running well install you anti virus and connect to the internet and update that
what anti virus are you running
put no other software in the computer until you get trainz working from the box first without s packs applied or anti virus,do you have direct x9c installed if not install it

Info for Steve123

Specs of Rastis PC : found in Thread Trainz has done it again ( section Surveyours, operators, Engineers ).

Operating System: Windows Vista SP2
Trainz Build number: 41844-Was trying to patch it to SP4 when this started.
No warnings from TrainzDiag
Happening when clicking on the TS2009 icon.

To Rastis : Perhaps you can use this method doing it yourself, or ask assistance from a IT-friend or your local computershop

If possible - since your Trainz info has been backuped I would suggest to follow the advice from Steve123 ( reinstall everything )

When all is installed a couple of methods are useable

For instance : backup everything on a second harddisk

or backup all on bootable dvd-disks.

When in the near future, you have a problem you can always use your backup hd or dvd-disks for restoring.

Best regards

I just had a thought (these may have already been answered, but I need to check anyway)

Firstly, are you running Trainz as admin?
Secondly, have you had any failed patches after the last re-install?
Thirdly, it may be worth looking to see if there are any newer graphics card drivers for your system.

Shane

EDIT: It may also be worth adding -intro=disable into trainzoptions.txt.

Get another Windows version

Upgrade to Windows 7 or backdate to Windows XP SP3. Windows Vista is probably the worst piece of crap that Microsoft has ever produced, it is nothing but trouble.

Strange that because before i started using Win 7 64, i used to run Trainz on Vista 32 & 64. Without any problems at all.

So how you can make that sweeping statement about Vista being crap, is beyond me.

Hi Everybody.

So how you can make that sweeping statement about Vista being crap, is beyond me.

It is the same here, I have been using Windows Vista 32 almost since it came out and have had no problems at all with Trainz or any other program on my system.

I also use Dragon Naturally Speaking speech to text software which is a much more complex program and drain on the system than Trainz, and still get no problem. So my experience would be that this is nothing to do with Windows Vista

Bill

I agree with you guys on Vista. I had no problems either. I installed amd ran everything as administrator.

Now Ratsis if these computer specs that you are showing in your signature are true, your system is way under spec to handle TS2009. The Celeron processor never really had the bollucks behind it for anything other than browsing the Internet.

Before you blame Auran for a poor product, try updating your hardware first. You'll see a substantial difference in the performance and stability of the product.

i agree celeron cant handle trainz 2009 bcz my 3.0ghz pentium4 gave low performence in trainz but now dual core running fine trainz 2009

I got my game back in 2006.
after 6 months playing, I had a bug.
1 1/2 years later, I found out how to fix it.
I came back to the game.

[FONT=Segoe UI, Arial]Are you familiar with the use of the Windows Explorer, and do you know what the registry is?

If so, there are several additional steps that you need to take before you attempt to install Trainz again, or go as far as reformatting and re-installing Windows.

Let me know, and I can post or PM you the detailed instructions.

In another post you stated that you had terminated the patch at 50%. That is the cause of your problem. It did not stop. It is error checking and fixing the database which takes time, a lot of time. Your Trainz install is now corrupted and only a re-install from scratch, including all patches will fix it. Sorry for the bad news.

if you take small steps you will find out where the problem is, backup any data
you wish to safe to another hard drive ,then do as i stated earlier,

I agree with this, not a good idea to terminate the patch at all. Mine took about 4 hours and some folk find it can take anything up to 7 hours or more.
I know it looks as if it gets stuck and isn't working and the install bar isn't moving, but it is in the background, so never, ever stop it.

A reinstall and repatch. Preferably to the patch before you do anything else after the install.

And just leave it alone until it finishes, no matter how long that takes. Be patient.

Good luck,

Angela

Quite often people have trouble with there operating system whether it be
xp,windows 7 ,vista more often than not it is there hardware or there failure to upgrade drivers ,,,,,,,you can't put a v8 motor in a 4 cilinder car without making a few changes to your subframe ,it might work but it will be rough because the support isn't there,
it is the same with computers

When installing trainz which is a great game if you are having trouble and it will not run properly
1] back up data you wish to keep
2]reformat your computer,,,,,,,,,,,,and so on as above

if you dont know how to reformat your computer find someone who does instead of rieinstalling trainz and not getting anywhere
start from scratch, you may think that this is a lot of hassel but in the long run it will save you time and heart ache,
also check temperatures of CPU , VIDEO CARD , RAM

G'day!

Well I have got Trainz running. I saw JCitron's post about my Celeron Processer, Trainz seems to run fine with Celeron with no lag, very stable. Until now. Because I cancelled the patch...

Now, you post, UP6936, I find the statement you posted is quite un-true. Trainz (When it's working :hehe: ) is very stable, no lag and it doesn't crash on Vista. I find Vista extremely reliable, it's fast, easy to navigate and it's shiny!

Trainz is patching right now, so I am NOT to go near this computer until it finishes. (Which is very hard for me :hehe: )

Oh, and if this works out, I will be staying on the Forum! :)

Cheers! :)

Jake.

What happen to me. I had 12g ram for my i7 chip set, but with my ATI HD 5970 card the system was always crashing, and not just with Trainz. Anyway the last straw was with the 10.10 patch installed automatically by steam when I tried to play Civ 5. Lock-crash-blue screen-boom. Win7 wouldn't even load, I tried everything to get back up, nada.:'(

Had to take the tower back to the computer shop that built it. He ran tests and reformatted the HD still the computer would blue screen and crash.

Finally after digging through Intel's data base, he found there was a flaw in the i7 chip. The chip would not work with three sets of 1666 Mhz ram that I have on the MB but would with the 1333 Mhz ram. He told me my ram would only work as two sets. AMD doesn't have this problem with their chips. :(

So I'm down to two sets of ram, 8g and the system is stable and trainz after the lengthy patch works like ice, very nice. ;)

See not always the programmers fault, still Leary about Civ5, I'll wait for more patching.

Good to hear Jake, was going to offer my services if you needed it. I have an IT business and would of been happy to help you out(@ no charge to you of course) So if you still have any issues I am happy to help you out, shoot me a PM if you have any issues still.

I am glad you are 1 out of 1,000,000,000 windows users that find Vista is good, I am happy for you, but I do agree its one of the worst pieces of crap MS has ever released, Though ME is the worst over all in the history of Windows IMO.

Hope all worked out with patching etc of Trainz, and if needed mate, shoot me a PM for any assistance. Always happy to help out other South Australian members.

Cheers

Trent
