WARNING! This thread is intended to be viewed by internet users with connections of over 56K

This thread is meant for IE Trainz Screenshots. Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland is in this category. The following companies include:

If you are sharing a photo of an unreleased reskin, please ask the author about sharing screenshots of that work. I'm only saying this from experience with other Trainzers. If you want to know where some good IE content can be located, just give me a bell. May I suggest, Dave(Nexusdj), has some really nice IE MK(2s or 3s?). As for a class 201, if I can recall, Harcourt has one in the pipeline. While I'm mentioning these notorious trainzers, lets give Harcourt and Nexusdj a round of applause on their dedication to trainz.

It was fun!!! Beautiful scenery you guys have. I started getting a groggy throat and now I'm coughing, sniffling, and I think I might end up ba*****. The UK is great. I told my mom to buy a ticket for Heathrow. In my opinion... better than the US.

Sorry to hear you have caught one of our ''summer'' colds, it won't last too long hopefully. Hmmmmm, not quite sure about the UK being better than the States, we're probably equal......:p

Your 14xx loco on the DLS contains in the description " MY special thanks to Paul Hobbs for his kind permission in allowing me to use one of his scripts"

why did you ask for permission if you think it's OK for other folks not to ?
 
because I had the intention to release it, this other chap has not expressed the same wish, if I wanted to re skin something for my own use I would not bother to ask permission, unless its being sold I really don't think it matters, in anycase show me the point in his post where he said "here are my reskins" it is not here, you created the carriage? or just the skin? if its the carriage did you apply for a copyright certificate? or ask the original designer of the MK3 for permission to recreate the carriage? or the railway company to apply their livery if it was the skin you did? just live and let live, we all here supposedly because we like trains why not just enjoy our common interest, this forum seems to have a few nice people but mainly full of miserable people who are just out to cause arguments like this one, what happened to the days of the loco spotter when enthusiast helped enthusiast?

yeah I'm a miserable person who is always out to cause arguments that's why the this and the UK trainz forums is full of posts by myself offering advice and building content that folks want .

It does make me wonder if it's worth the hassle of constructing content for trainz when you're hard work gets stolen then you get ridiculed for trying to protect it .

You've obviously got some content on the DLS so is it all your own or have you reskinned someone Else's work ?
 
1st) Actually at UKTrainz I originally said I did NOT plan to release it (happened about the same time as the post over here). I offhandedly said that if people like them I would seek out permission. However the intent was not to. Since that posting I had some interest in them from others so I added it to the list of content to request release rights too.

2nd) I do not knowingly steal stuff. Reskining something is in no way stealing it. If you want to put a crime on it, call it vandalism.

Also. As stated in the content this is from the Content Creation Art Source CD. Which means that the rights to the meshes are in Aurans domain. Which states "You are free to edit, upgrade, or change any of the content included so long as all updates are distributed through Auran's Trainz Download Station." in its license. I know for a fact you have had a number of these Mk3s (and other stuff from there) on your own website, not the DLS.

Well I defiantly know that GWR Country railway is a reskin of someone else's work :hehe:

as for being ridiculed for protecting it, please tell me what you can gain from a carriage? if you had just developed some software that saved lives or could better windows or a new game or any other NEW piece of software then yes fair enough defend your copyright because hopefully in that case you would have the sense to apply for real copyright, and while I and I am sure others really appreciate what content creators make for us to use in the game does not fall into the same realms, I build model kits now I don't ring airfix and say is it ok if i paint the aeroplane now? because that is something they created and I now own, just like trainz content.

I'm fully aware that the coaches are from the content creators CD but have been basically rebuilt with new fabricated sides , ends , underframe , and doors in fact I'd say the only original work left was part of the roof and the bogie and coupling attachment points . These rebuilt coaches have never been on my website . They were beta versions that weren't even completed and if I'm right in thinking they aren't even the correct length being just over 80ft long (actual should be 75) A fault that I created and have since corrected . These where released to a few trainzers who were desperate to get hold of them and I advised them of the problems at the time and that they were in an incomplete state and would not be rectified as I moved on to reskinning JN114's far superior version . I also clearly stated that they shouldn't be reskinned or redistributed as I didn't want what i considered to be poor work floating around the web .

The coaches concerned that where on my website where older versions converted by Ob1knobby . Auran where fully aware of this because I had asked there PERMISSION which was granted before I uploaded them.

So to clear things up because I'm getting bored with this . You DO NOT have permission to reskin and Distribute my work .

Now I not being sarcastic or anything I promise but I am wondering how you intended to enforce this?
 
I am under the belief that anything can be re-skinned without asking permission, and used for your own use, on your own PC. And that screenshots can be displayed of these re-skins, without asking permission...as long as it doesn't defame your work, and make it look totally rediculous: Like adding a Thomas the Train face to someones fine creation.

Of course: You can't physically give a re-skinned asset to someone else, or re-distibute, and sell the re-skinned item without asking permission.

Posting screenshots is not considered re-distributing.
