Hungarian Railway Historical Park

Here I will be presenting some of the engines and other railway paraphernalia I saw during a recent visit to the Hungarian Railway Historical Park in Budapest. If you are ever in Budapest, try to reserve some time to visit it. I was there on a Friday morning and practically had the place to myself which meant it was easy to see everything without any interference.

First the site.

Was there a few months ago, great museum though I wish they had some locomotives displayed around the roundhouse, the Nohab diesel which I wanted badly to see was hidden inside one of the sheds.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the pictures. I have two questions concerning the cab-view:

1. I cannot make out the type of regulator, and wondering whether the lever arrangement with the quadrant is complete.

2. The structure on top of the boiler, near the rear end of the fire box, would that be a lubricator?

If you liked the 484, have a look at its neighbour, a 520, as we get real close to where the steam is made.

Anyone know how many of these class M61's they had in service? To have three examples in one museum seems generous.
