How Trainz can smooth?

Well if things are choppy, it's probably your video card. Try turning the settings down. If it's still pretty slow, I'd think about getting a new card, one that's faster.

Then again, a Disc Defrag may help. I'm not sure about that though.

Using main menu in driver select options, move all sliders except the bottom 1 to the left. This will help but if you have a low spec comp you will struggle to get smooth running.

Try downloading gamebooster. I use it on my laptop and see some significant results on high detail routes. I only have integrated graphics. It improves smoothness, performance, and frames per second. Maybe with this, I can run trainz 2010 nice and decently on my laptop.
