How to use Portals

I posted yesterday but it didn't make it (I looked in a lot of places).
Is there a tutorial on use of Portals?
I see only 1 track portals, are there any 2 tracks?

How many trains can you run without a malfunction in the software? I am currently running 10 they operate ok but some of the commands for the drivers to follow get lost, fouling up the flow, if it, (software) is limited to 6 or 7 then I would make some of my trains to disappear in(portals) can you make them come out again, say, at a specified time?
thanks

Hi peter1jeep
Dont know of any limit except that of a computers capability. The more you want to do at any one time the more work your computer will have to do. All portals are one track and ive always found the best way to set up portals is to have one for each task. One to produce trains, allow enough track for train to exitortal fully, one to receive trains and one to return trains via the produce train portal. This avoids any conflict of trains trying to use a portal at the same time. The portal allows you to return a train after a specified period. You can also use the emit train now and emit train on trigger rules. Not sure about lost commands as ive not had that happen but sometime after the train leaves the portal is it may miss the first command of a schedule because it reads the schedule to quick. In this case put a wait for 10 seconds command at the start of the schedule to give the computer time to read the schedule.

How to use portals.

Thanks stagecoach, that gives me something to work on, I understand the delay to read the next command, yes I have found that the more trains I have running the more the comands change, maybe my computer or me has gremlins LOL
