How to slow down injection of automatic trains in Port Ogden & Northern?

In the "Night Rider" session of Port Ogden & Northern (version that came with TS for MAC) I find that the rate
at which freight trains are automatically injected near Sundermeyer is too high, causing trains to back up there
and clog the approaches. I cannot find any way in Surveyor (whether used on the route or on the session) to
slow this down -- I cannot even find where these automatic trains are specified.

A hint would be appreciated.

Look for the portal that the trains are coming from click in surveyor to edit the portal. You can change the rate the trains exit the portal. You can find the portal by looking at the trains schedule, the trackmarks the trains are going too should match the portal where they started.

Find the route, click on it to find the session and open the session for edit. Open the layer editor (looks like pile of books or use F6) and change to route layer. Find the portal and open objects(F3), use the ? on the portal and alter the timing to suit you.
Close and save. Make sure it's saving as the right route and session (not default).

Might be in Central Portal Control

Hi hkoster --

I't a long, long time ago that I made that session and I'm not sure which of two methods I used to set up the portals.

On the assumption that the Mac version is similar to the PC version, go into Routes / Highlight PO&N in the list / Sessions (at the bottom right) / Highlight the Session / Edit (middle left).

Go into the "Edit Rules" menu, at the top left of the screen. In the new screen look in the list for "Central Portal Control". Is it there?

If so, edit it to reduce the rate at which the trains are emitted.

If it's not there, move to the portal that is emitting the trains, open the "Objects" flyout, click on the "?" then on the portal. Now edit the portal to reduce the frequency of trains.

Now save the session as, eg "Night Rider Me".

Tell me if this helps.

Thanks Phil, there's nothing on portals in the Session Rules, but I was able to edit portal aC in the RHS "Object" menu where I changed the ejection interval from 5 minutes to 7 minutes. This change preserves the challenge of crossing bridges and tracks without interfering with the AI trains. Unfortunately, the portals are specified in the Route Layer, so the edited session can only be saved as part of a new renamed route.

The problem with the original 5 minute interval is caused by the long time it takes for the AI trains to get going at single-track bridges when there's no apparent blockage up ahead. May be a bug or some inefficiency in the TS:MAC version.
