How to choose?

Should I get 2010 Enginners versions or Trainz 12? I like stream engines - which would give me more to start with? I have Trainz THD right down... How do I know it will work on my laptop? I know so many questions! Andy

Well, let's start with the first question, then you can add more. Welcome to Trainz! The major difference between 2010 and 12 is that 2010 is able to run in compatibility mode, which allows you to use older content. Most steam engines are older content, so I would think that would make your decision for you!:)

I'd choose TS2010, it has more available. If you choose the right patches, you can have Multiplayer too.

TS12 only has 3 steam engines. :(

And all 3 steam engines are American :'( :n: I like my British steam.

If you ask me, TS12 = :n: :'(

TS2010 = :Y: :clap:

From what I understand, when you lose compatability mode, 90% of 04/06/TC assets cease to function at all, and will not show up in your game ? So you would lose 67,368 assets ... Ka Blooie ! To me that is a BIG deal of lost assets !

Why not get both! :) If I could only pick one, I'd pick TS2010, simply because it has far more routes - 30, as well as content. But TS12 is more stable and many say it runs faster than TS2010. Your laptop has to have a decent, discrete video card; integrated video tends not to work well.

Getting back to the OP's question I notice now he is asking for "stream engines". I'm not sure either 2010 or 12 will satisfy him in that regard!:hehe:

But then you just go into CMP and FIX IT.

It's not a big deal if you KNOW how to fix Trainz assets. I've still got 450 faulty, piece of cake.

Besides, it's a good reason to spend an extra 2 minutes and update the steam locos to the new specs and sound.

News to me. Last time I asked about this here I was told not to bother, it was broken (or beta at the time).

I run TS2010 version 43434 , and would rather not 'break' it. However the urge to crash into other people's trains.... /jk

Lol this tablet loves to edit my words - you would be surprised what it comes up with at times.

Now my laptop is a Toshiba T135d. Neo processor mv40 1.6ghz 2.75gb memory the windows experience rating is 2.9 so is the a demo or test program to show of I sure run. 2010 or 2012 version of Trains? Thanks.

I have both 10 & 12 i like 12 the best. Now if i was to choose i'ld choose because it the latest and you can down load all the steam engines you want.
Take the time as captainKman said learn how to fix errors and fine dependences, just like learning how to run trainz try & error.
Alot of the old stuff had errors but the older virsions didn't flag them as 12 dose.
Yes 10 has multi-player and you can reinstall it jiving it a new name and patching it to build 49938 and it won't do anything to your build 44088.
Welcome to Trainz.

ENOUGH with the how many steamers included, if you want steam, use the DLS. N3V does as much as they can to cater worldwide but really, comparing which version is better by how many Built-in steam trains it has?

Dear Euphod,

I see under my post you said spammer reported...

I know the thread is about steam trains for TS12/2010, but I was simply interested about Multiplayer in TS2010 which is why I quoted that part in my reply.

I feel quite hurt, since a little while later that night you helped me with my Pendelino problem:eek:

If I've upset you at all, or posted out of order, I do humbly apologize....I'm unsure if you work for N3V games or Mod the site (not checked TBO).

Again I apologize, and thank you for the numerous times you and Shane and some of the other prolific posters have helped me.

Rich.

PS tried PM, no luck, sorry everyone has to see this

Edit : If I'm not welcome here, is there another forum or place to get good advice re Trainz Thanks.

Euphod was referring to a spammer whose post was immediately following yours.

That post was removed and thus placed you post directly above his.

Oh...you're not a spammer then?:D Apologies for the confusion, the previous posters were quite right, someone had been spamming many threads the other night with links to unsavory places. I dutifully reported each one and posted that so others would not feel obligated to spam the mods with reports. In some threads the mods removed both the spam post and my post, in some they may have missed removing mine.

Perfectly innocent mistake Tension... OR IS IT? (Dun dun DUNNNN!):wave:
