How to change direction (e.g. after coupling)

Hi All

I'm a brand new member, and there may be a foolishly easy answer for the above question, but I have tried several things already. Up until now I haven't found a way to actually change train direction after coupling to some rolling stock. The rather unrealistic consequence is that I run in reverse, even though the train itself is moving forward...(forward meaning the loco is pulling, not pushing). And i'm not even talking about the drivers sitting on the wrong side, and the loco's red lights on... :-)

I'm sure there must be a way, anyone?

Thanks for the swift reply.

However, when i'm driving myself, i can't add commands. So how does it work when in the driver seat? Also, when I run the passive version (I'm doing 'CollierCommute' at the moment) , the AI doesn't use the action command you mentioned above (at least it's not listed in his command queue), even though he changes direction. I can't find the specific action command in the driver command list either.

BTW, i'm using TRS2006.

The AI will turn the effective direction to the direction of travel automatically when it is driving.

To add the command to the available list, go into the session options at the top of surveyer and the bottom catagory (name escapes me - someone else chip in please!). You can select or deselect all of the commands you want to be available in the session. By default, non-builtin commands are not selected.

If I'm driving myself, I often like to jump in with an AI driver, so that if I want to take a break I can ask him/her to take over for a bit, but also so that if I do need to switch ends I can use this command.:)

There is also a shortcut key to press that switches cabs, but I don't know it unfortunately - it isn't mentioned in the manual.:(

Indeed, it is not mentioned in the manual.

As a real life train driver, i can say that switching cabs is actually a very common action, and thus should certainly be in a shortcut key.

Hence my call to all readers: if you know this shortcut, plz post it for all to know. I'm sure all people could use this, as u need it frequently when in the driver seat.

Ofcourse if anyone knows of another way to effectively switch train direction, feel free to help out :-)

greetz and thx

Alt+C is the shortcut you want - although I think you actually have to be in the cab view (hit the "1" key) for it to take effect. However for steam and single-cab locos I'm not sure if this works and you may need to use one of the "change-direction" commands previously mentioned.

Hope this helps!
