How good is Raildriver?

For those with the Rail Driver controller, how well does it preform with trainz or any other train sim. What are (if any) the negatives of it.

Reason I ask is I am thinking about getting it. And I would like to hear input on it before I make my desion.

Mine is working perfectly, cant come up with any downsides at the moment.

I'll say go for it.

I love mine. It's so much easier to drive when you have one instead of having to fool with the mouse to control levers. The only negative that I've had is that the calibration of the levers seems a little sloppy sometimes. Overall, I'm very pleased with mine.

So far Raildriver doesn't seem to work with Vista 64 bit version with either TRS 2009 or 2010. 2004 and 2006 seem OK though.

Driving trainz is much more fun with RD than without it !!

Matt,

Having had mine since Christmas, I highly recommend it.

Works well for me on Vista 64-bit with Trainz 2010 and Railworks.
With MSTS the official drivers do not work with an OS above XP.
However, others have had some success with a Payware program called RDTrainFix. I cannot comment on it myself as I've yet to try it.

The only problem I've had with Trainz is some steam locomotives do not respond to the reverser or throttle. The only thing I found by searching was this thread from 2007 starting with post 74: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=16399&highlight=raildriver+general

Hope this helps,
:)

Steve,

As I mentioned above in my post to Matt, it works for the most part perfectly for me with TS2010 on Vista 64-bit. I'm using driver 1.0.1.2
Have you tried the Helpdesk or P.I. Engineering's Support?

I do agree driving is much more fun with the RailDriver. :D

Hope you get it solved,
:)

Hello,

Can anyone give me an answer to following questions and my gamepadproblem?

How is the raildriver connected to your computer ( desktop/notebook ).

Is the working principle different from a gamepad?

Why this question : I'm using a gamepad Logitech precision - works fine with MSTS using the Logitech Profiler.

With Trainz2009 I cannot use the Logitech Profiler - however I can use mapping software - Xpadder or Joytokey

I tested the program on the Bad Schindau-Decin route - Betriebsstorung.
I don't know if the English version of Trainz 2009 has the same route.
In the Dutch version - the front screens are translated into Dutch - but several routes are kept into the original language - in this case German.

In the route the joytokey or Xpadder program functions in the following way

I started the Bad Schindau-Decin route - Betriebsstorung - and I used the buttons on my gamepad . All tools ( brakes, power etc ) were reacting to the pushing on the buttons, but the train didn't move.

Then I used the option in the menu bar ( bottom level of screen - green button ) - trein rijden ( in English ride Train ? ) and the train begins to ride.

I immediately stopped the train - again using the same menu bar.

Now I use the buttons on the gamepad - and the train runs.

Any ideas anyone? I have also mailed the Auran Helpdesk ( no answer up to now ).

Thank you.

Best regards.

Connected via USB2 and if you want there is an audio cable for sound and vibrating effect. Can't help with other question.

I wish they'd make a scaled down version of this... like maybe 1/3 size or even one quarter size:

It would probably be too expensive still I suppose.

26l brake equip

yeah-i looked online about info on the 26l brake and throttle eqipment and they wanted like 5000 -6000 us dollars for it!its not cheap to say the least!:( (for the raildriver controller!)it would be nice to make a scale downed one though-ur rite on that!!!
