How do you run a route that was downloaded

I found a route someone made and I downloaded it to my computer. I launched it and clicked on extract and from there nothing seemed to happen.
I launch trainz and I can't find the route. I am bored trying out the packaged scenarios on trainz 2004 and wanted to try something new. Where can I find out how to do this correctly or maybe someone knows what I am doing wrong

Thanks

few questions

1) How did you download it? Did you download them via TrainzDownload Helper or a FTP program or a link posted on a website?

2) If you downloaded a .cdp of the file did you double-click it to install it?

3) Some items from the Download Station requires TRS2004 build 23xx version 2.4. Are you running this version?

4) Some items from the DLS requires PaintShed as a dependency. Have you downloaded it, installed it, created an item with it, and have saved it?

5) Have you checked for missing dependencies with a program called TrainzObjectz?

I've found that the route can be in surveyor but not in driver until I create a session for the route. I usually add a consists and save a session as testroute to get familiar with it. I will then show up in the driver menu.

clarification

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay on answers to your questions. I downloaded it via the FTP program only because it didn't seem to be downloading through the download helper.

I did double click to install and it seemed to extract, but I don't know where it went

I am running v. 2.0 build 690 which is probably way off I see and should probably look for an update.

I have never worked with paintshed. The only thing I have done with this program is run the scenarios that came with the program. It seems that there are alot of members who have taken the time to develop other scenarios and I would like to try them, hence my want to figure out how to download.

Is there a place on forum or elsewhere where they show step-by-step on how to do this?

This is what I did:
1)Launched download station,
2)clicked on 'scenarios' (had TRS2004 checked)
3)clicked 'download helper' and when that didn't seem to work, exited from that and clicked 'download page'
4) I selected 'download ftp'

Tonight, I clicked download helper and then it said the download would exceed my monthly usage?

In the meantime, I am going to try and update my program.

I sure feel like the newbie I am.
Thanks,
Joe

Yup you do you'll need to download install the 690>2365 patch. WARNING: 136MB download!

Also note it is recommended that you install the Service Pack on a fresh install of TRS2004. Please note that you'll need to backup your C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Dispatcher\downloads folder to a safe place.

Joe,

Once you're up to build 2365 (i.e. SP4) we have over seventy downloadable scenarios available for TRS2004 at the Razorback Railway web site. All our new activities are released for both TRS2004 and TRS2006. Some items are free (free registration required), others require a subscription to be taken out.

Hope this helps, John

Thanks

I am waiting now on tech support from AVG because I can't seem to disable my anti-virus which is recommended. I think I'll do the fresh install so I don't have any glitches.

Will let you know how it all works. Thanks for the assist. I just upgraded my viseo caqrd and memory because my sone plays world of warcraft so I should also see a difference.

disabling AVG is easy. What I do is I right-click on AVG on the task bar and select QUIT AVG Control Center.

Serial number location

Dave;
know where I can locate the serial number? Uninstalled the program and asking for serial number--not on box or either disk

I'm hoping it wasn't on the original jewel case, because that I don't have.

The serial number should be in your Planet Auran files. You should be able to open a serial number window with a record of every serial number you've registered with Auran.
For more immediate relief, my TRS2004 has the serial number on the back of the paper manual. If you still have that it should be there.
