How do you put locomotives in Quickdrive?

HI, I can't seem to be able to add a locomotive of my choice in quickdrive mode, It just comes up with a few consist only and no steam trains or anything really just trains with no locomotives and a few passenger trains.
Do I need to go in surveyor mode or something?
Cause I want to drive in quick drive mode and drive a train of my choice, I don't want to go in surveyor mode?
I hope that :o makes sense:)

Yes, you need to place locomotives and rolling stock on the track first in Surveyor before you can Drive them in normal Driver or Quick Drive. This is simply done by opening the Trains tab on the Surveyor interface (the tab with a train wheel on it), scrolling down the list, clicking on a desired train and simply placing it on the track.

You can choose between placing individual locos and carriages to form your own trains, or you choose a preset 'consist' where a whole train is already assembled if you just want to test the route.

I remember Trainz 1.3 used to have it that you selected your consists on the actual Driver screen, but all Trainz versions from 04 and up require trains to be added in Surveyor.

As you can place "Consists" anywhere in Quickdrive, you can place locomotives as long as you have saved them individually in Surveyor as consists.

For example:

In Surveyor, select a Loco (say an Alco31") and place it on the track.

Now go to the consist tab and select the "get item" tool (red grabber icon) and select the locomotive - a text bar will appear with "New Consist" in the text box. Change that to "Alco31 Light Loco" or "Alco31 Loco only".

Next time you're in Driver, you can place the "Alco31 Light Loco" at a trackmark using QuickDrive.

I do this all the time - I do it with rakes of coaches and wagons without motive power too!

Hi Guys,
I have followed the details above and gone into surveyor to create my consists. My problem is that the tender's for my Duchess and Blue Comet are nowhere to be seen?
I do not understand why these would not automatically appear in my list when I go into quick drive? Why am I not able to simply choose from all of my loco's and wagons when I go into quick driver? It is very frustrating!
Any advice / assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Also, does anyone else have the Duchess add on pack? The features for the add on state
Features:
  • 36 Duchesses in both LMS Crimson and BR Brunswick Green
  • 24 Stanier Period III Carriages in both LMS Crimson and BR Crimson and Cream comprised of BTK to D1905, TO to D1904 and FK to D1930.
What do they mean by 36 Duchesses? When I look in my railyard I can see the carriages, but only one green and one crimson "Duchess" - so what is meant by 36???

You can access the Global Consist Library from any screen. You go: Menu, options, global consist library. I like to build consists while I'm in the railyard, so I can get a good look at the equipment before I use it.

Why have they made it so difficult...why can't they make it straightforward like a console game ie. pick car, pick track, drive. obviously it would be more like pick loco, pick wagon/carriage, pick track, drive

No offense, but if the simple act of creating a consist, creating a new session and adding that consist then driving it seems difficult and complicated to you, possibly you should stick to console games.

all right, keep your hair on, I would have got the PS3/X360 version....if they made them, but they only seem to make them for PC's. and just reading that was hard. the next guys answer was more helpful, and for your information, Railworks 4 seems to have noticed as well and has done just that.

That would be my advice if you're looking for a train driving game, railworks has been moving toward the casual gamer for the last 3 years, and even introduced an Xbox controller interface with the latest version.

Creating a session, add train vehicles and play that session?
Yes, that is possible on the iPad version of the game.

Ok i try this :) But it is not possible to put premades into the quickdrive menu? The options in there are kinda limited...

All pre-made consists ARE in the quickdrive menu. The whole menu only exists out of (pre-made) consists.
To add more to that list, you will have to make more consists (how I think is covered somewhere in this topic).

In all situations, you need to actually have the game legally. Note that currently no version of the game is registered to your account (look at the train stops next to your name and compare it to others). A lot of people will not help you without that taken care off. Don't take this topic off-topic trying to discuss "how to do so". Search for that (or start a new topic about it in the correct forum).

Well thx oknotsen for taking time and helping me :) Maybe i am a bit unclear here. I see the premade ones just fine, i can not figure out though how to create additional ones in the surveyor mode on the mobile app "Trainz 2" on an ipad pro, all those help links are for the PC versions, thats why i whondered if its even possible on mobile.

(And I will make sure to look into this game version registration thingy)
