How do you Adjust Bogey highth under rolling stock?

steamrodder

Fellow Trainzer
Good Day all,

I,m in the process of reskinning a passenger coach for my pesonal use, and I would like to use a diffrent type of bogey, but they go to high into the bottom of the coach body. I can't remember were I seen the artical, if it was on the Forum or on another third party website. Any input will be much appreciated. Thank you....
Your fellow Trainzer, Robert a.k.a steamrodder:confused:

P.S. If this works and looks good (I'm kinda pikky on how it looks) I,ll see if I can get Permission from the original model builders to upload it on the download station, so all our fellow Trainzers can play with it. And to all the Model builders... Thank You for all your hard work and time it takes to make the content for Trainz!!:D

Hi steamrodder,

It is not possible to adjust the attachment point height unless you have the original Gmax files. These are normally kept by the creator.
However there is a program by Pev which allows you to add an attachment point to existing items. It's realy ment for attaching things like tail lights etc. but may work for bogeys.

Cheers,

The height of bogeys is set by the height of the a.bog0 and a.bog1 attachments in the main mesh, as well as the construction of the bogeys themselves.

NONE of these things are user adjustable without access to the original GMax model files.

My AttachmentMaker will allow you to add attachments a.bog2 and a.bog3 on to which you can attach the bogeys after attaching dummy bogeys to a.bog0 and a.bog1. If you load the exiting mesh into the AttachmentMaker in both the main mesh and the attach_mesh you will see the locations of the existing attachments, add a.bog2 and a.bog3 with the same X and Y coordinates as a.bog0 and a.bog1 the change the Z's to suit the new bogeys. Then you must delete the attachments that were in the original mesh, before saving the attach_mesh.im.

Get AttachmentMaker from

Bogey Highth adjustment

Thanks Bill And Peter, I just download the porgram, do I need to have Gmax installed on my computer?

No its stand alone. Be aware there is a slight performance impact when you add a second mesh. Most bogeys and attachment points these days are set to a Z height of 0. I take it you wish to switch bogeys? If so is there a different one you could use that is the right height? Might be simpler.

No. Peter's programs only needs the Auran Trainzmesh Importer.

Thanks Bob..

The AttachmentMaker program is a very simple drawing package that only makes an invisible mesh with attachment points.

The TrainzMeshImporter is included in the download. If you have not used my programs that use the TMI, you need to test if it's working. Instructions for testing are in the AttachmentMaker help file.

Unfortunately Auran wrote the TMI to require some runtime files for Microsoft C++ 2005. Hopefully they will make the next version completely stand-alone.... (Chris, please help on this one...)

Lots, Thanks, for your prompt reply. I'm glad you like the tool.

While strictly true you can nevertheless edit them out and use AttachmentMaker. If you have and know how to safely use a hex editor you can change the entries for a.bog0, a.bog1 etc. to say a.bogx (NOTE you must only OVERWRITE the 0, 1, etc or you will corrupt the file). You can then use AttachmentMaker to make new a.bog0 etc. attachment points where you want them. This will work (until Auran change the rules again :) ).
