Trainz Of ATL
recently i found a website called 30ng trainz. they make good content, but they also make it hard to download. i just need someone to tell me how to download from there, since it is quite impossible.

thanks, John:D

Moin,

You have to click the images in the downloadarea, that will you bring to the next site where you have to click the image with the model you wish to load.

G'day!

I just checked out that site myself, and I am experiencing downloading troubles too. Click the image and it brings up a random HTML all jumbled together like opening a .rar file with notepad.

Cheers! :)

Jake.

A .rar file is a compressed file similar to a .zip file. Most .zip extraction software will extract them. Just double click the file and see if windows can find a program that will extract it. If so, extract to a temp folder then import into Trainz.

yes i know, but when i extract it with winrar, it just acts as a html document and a file document that i cant get into my trainz. can you please give me specific instructions?

thanks

I can see the problem.

The hosting company for the 30NG Trainz download site does not properly support .cdp files (and possibly .rar files)

Only the owner of the site can sort this problem out.

Shane,

I think this website may fall into the 'questionable' group.

Your thoughts?

Ron

Try right-mouse button clicking on the link and doing a save-as instead of a click to save. Sometimes a web developer will use the wrong link-open function instead of a link to. This will cause this to happen, and I've seen this on other websites as well.

If you want to open both Zips and RAR archives, check out 7-Zip. It handles both without issues.

i was just trying to find out if annyone knew what to do. thank you all for trying! by the way aardvark, connyxy is good evidence that even girls can do good in trainz, just saying.;)

No problem, John. That's what we're here for! :D

Update:

I had no problem downloading a Davenport locomotive from them. Nice stuff up there. I think I'll do some more poking around. :)

You might want to check your browser settings too, like in Fire Fox for example. You want to tell it to save rather than default to open on RAR and CDP files when downloading.

I just downloaded the 30" mallet and tender with no problem. They d/ld as a cdp and installed fine.
Clicked on download, picture and picture. I am using Google Chrome.

The issue is affecting Internet Explorer, which appears to require that the web server sends it the correct information, which in the case of the site in question, this is not happening. This may be a limitation of the hosting provider being used.

i have tried all of the suggestions, but my computer just keeps it as a lifeless html document. i emailed the owner of the site so i am waiting to get a reply. maybe they want me to donate. well played.
by the way, the davenports are on the download station, even for 24in gauge.

In IE right hand click and save target as.. to give a .htm file. Just change the htm extension to cmp and you can then install it. I have just installed one of the Climax engines with no problem.

yes, that is what i tried to do, but i am not used to dealing with this. i usually just right click on a download button and save it to downloads, but this website does not have cmp's. i know i will sound like a total idiot when i say this, but how do you change the document to cmp?

In explorer click on the file name to select it.

Press F2 to enter the name edit mode.

Press END to take the cursor to the end of the filename.

Backspace three times to delete htm.

Type cdp.

Press ENTER

You now have renamed the file as a cmp file and can load it into Surveyor in the normal way.

teddytoot, I think you have made a small error in your post.

The filetype .cmp is not one of the Trainz filetypes.

I'm guessing you meant .cdp.
