How can I create so as to not get "unknown dependency" error

Let me start by saying I'm not looking for help to find unknown dependencies. I'm puzzled with the results of a test I made.

Late last year I bought Trainz 2006, installed it and started building a route. It's been slow but it's getting there. Since as I understand it we can't upload 2006 items to DLS, I thought maybe I'd convert it to 2010 which I just bought and installed last week.

So over the weekend to make sure dependencies were accounted for, I installed 2006 on a second machine and moved the CDP of both the route (2Mb) and the session(11K) over to the second machine. I was shocked to see that I had 132 unknown dependencies for the route and 16 for the session. I'm puzzled why this would be. The only thing I could think would be that these were part of a route/session I may have downloaded and had to scurry for missing pieces elsewhere. Evidently they aren't on the DLS or I would think CMP would have picked them up.

My ultimate goal is to get this moved to 2010, finish it and share it. So I'm thinking I could save a new copy on my original machine and run the 'delete missing assets' and see what disappears then go from there. If 148 dependencies are missing after building a couple months, I'd hate to finish it, share it and have the recipient spend hours chasing missing stuff.

What experiences have people had trying to create good routes without others having to go through the pain? What's the best way to move forward?

I recently got TS2010 and moved my route forward by saving to CDP and then opening them in ts10. For the dependencies, I right clicked the route in ts09 CMP and clicked view dependencies. I also added the filter built in = false. Then I selected all (ctrl+A) right clicked and saved these to CDP and opened these in ts10. I did the same for the session.
It takes a long time but it works. There may be a better way of doing things but this is the best thing I could find

That all makes sense, so maybe I should try importing it into 2010 tonight and see what happens.

So I found an interesting thing this morning. I have the SN#s of 2006, UTC and 2010 registered. Prior to registering 2010, when I would go to the DLS and search, 2004 was included in the selection process - the box was checked. So today I'm looking on the DLS for one of the missing dependencies and noticed now that 2004 is no longer checked. The asset I was looking for was not found until I clicked the 2004 box.

Is there a way to tell CMP to look for 2004 items as well when it imports CDP's? It would save a lot of headaches if it's possible. My guess is that it looks at DLS with the same parameters that I would if I went to the DLS URL.

Hi jalandis01 - Content Manager shows the build level of each asset on the right hand side. It looks at everything on the DLS. If the asset has been updated it takes the latest level.

I guess that when you register 2010 it thinks you don't need 2004 any more; mine is the same. I don't know how to make the Black Pages look for 2004 permanently.

Cheers - Trevor
