Hi guys I am new to the world of animating and I want to make a mesh to add more passengers for a train for my own use only and am not shore how?. I have recently downloaded blender but am stuck any help will be gratefully welcomed.

im SURE you will have a bit of a tough time getting into the nitty gritty of trainz modeling if you don't know how to use blender yet. There are MANY tutorials out there, and you may search these forums and the wikibook, also search google for blender tuts. First get to know your way around 3d modelling before you just dive into trainz modelling :)
I do some static 3d models in blender, and it just takes some time. Im sure more replies will follow with more advice.

Hi ..If you do not know anything about Blender many people seem to put off by the multitude of buttons and which to click on........... The best method is to get used to the layout first of the current version, but due to change with 2.5 version when it eventually appears....... Learn the keyboard first. Start with default 2 metre cube and experiment with it. Example S is to scale. Right click to select. Press S on keyboard move mouse. Left click to fix to new size........... Now try S followed by X and you scale in the X direction. S followed by Y to scale in the Y direction, Z in Z direction. ......... 3 views. Numpad. 7 top view. 1 front view. 3 side view. Alt plus left mouse move the view anyway you wish Next right click to select. Then Tab to change to edit mode. then click on the little triangle symbol which selects the faces, then right click on any of the faces. Change to the required view. 7,1,3. ...........G to Grab and you move just that face. If you press E, extrude just that face as a new piece. That is the way I make boats. You simply extrude shaped sections with E then S to scale them as you move along the hull. So to get started with Blender not as difficult as you might think............ Another thing you can make terrain up to 12 miles or so very easily in Blender in a couple of minutes, if you wish to experiment with the game engine part of it and move the objects you make. By using a script which you can download and 3DEM you can make any satellite srtm2 data land, say sections 6 or up to 12 miles as a mesh very easily........... Colour the land heights (contours) whatever you want by exporting texture from 3DEM......... Barry............................ P.S......As I no longer use Trainz unable to help with Trainz related questions.. P.P.S ...If you want further details you can probably find me on the uktrainsim ship simulator forum.

One more question will that attachment maker make it more easy to add extra visible passengers?

If the item has visible passengers now then just add more attachment points, add them into the config.txt file and up the number of passengers.

Be aware that adding visible loads means a performance hit.

As for modeling in Blender...

I recommend doing up to Unit 3 in this tutorial:

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro

then look at the "Asset Creation" and "Trainz Tutorials" at:

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz

Keep in mind that you will need a "Trainz Exporter" for Blender (or Gmax). You can get both in WinRAR format at http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Downloads).

The Blender "Trainz Exporter" does not like "Double Sided" objects or support all rendering functions available in Blender (more detail found at http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz/Tutorial_for_Blender).

Getting the "config.txt" files right for the version of Trainz you create models for is very important as 'what works/looks right in Blender and PEV's Tools (http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~villaump/pevsoft)' may not appear or display correctly in Trainz...

I've downloaded the attachment maker but does anyone know how it works as I cant seem to work it out properly.
