Help with BenDorsey roundhouses, please.

Hello all,

I ran across five excellent turntables and roundhouses done by Ben Dorsey that are ideal for what I am working on. Problem is that the turntable is built on a 3x3 dighole. While it is possible to rotate this scenery item, you get the blue voids unless you line up exactly with the grid squares. Here is a picture of what I mean.

Ground textures don't cover the hole. Is it possible to cover it? How?

Any help greatly appreciated because I would really like to use this item.

The easiest solution is to make it square to the baseboards. Otherwise, there are some ground splines and concrete slabs that could be used.
Do a DLS search for AJS and for concrete.

Thanks Claude,

I may resort to that and will note your suggestions. Problem is that I am modelling a prototype route so the TT can't possibly conform to the grid squares. But your idea seems like a good workaround and I'll give it a shot.

Thanks Bob,

It's funny how easy it is to stump yourself when you are too close to a problem. It never occurred to me to use a scenery object as you suggested or a ground spline as Claude did, as opposed to a texture.:o

I'll try both of you guys's ideas next time I get a chance to work on my route.

Hi Ben,

You shoulda thought. How would it be if we let our hostlers fall into those voids. :hehe:

OMG OSHA!
