Help with AI commands please!!!

Hi there, I've been trying to create a session with AI commands, but a couple of them have been driving me crazy!

The first one is the "Run Around Train" command. When I use this command, the AI uncouples, runs around, but will not attach to the other end because of a red signal. I have tried various types of signal, but the AI just won't go past to attach to the train. I have also tried removing the signal altogether, but the AI just keeps driving off until it can find a signal to get stuck behind.

Another one is for passenger trains. When I tell the AI to stop at a station, often they will not stop on the platform. The train will either stop with just the cab on the platform, or overshoot, with only the last car on the platform.

Any hints or solutions would be very much appreciated! TIA

You can't give a train an order unless, A: it has finished the previous order, or B: it isn't in a safe area to perform the order. I think the later is the case here.

As for stations, I have different results with different trains. Some will stop fine, others wont. I put it down to the fact that content creators don't build them around AI use. Clone it and play with the brakes.

It's quite possible that you need to place an invisible signal behind the wagons you are trying to couple with in order for the loco to move into position to couple. This then allows to loco to see that the line between it and the waiting wagons is clear.

For your passengers I would place track marks at the end of each platfrom in the direction of travel, name them something you can easily recognize and then issue each passenger driver a "Drive to trackmark.........". This is usually enough to get them to stop where you want but you may need to move the trackmark slightly to suit your own requirements.

Hope this helps,
Cheers
Russell.

If the invisible signal idea does not work try the command 'couple to vehicle in front/behind signal'. You will have to name/number the signal, so you will have as commands, drive to t/mark/wait for 30 secs, uncouplez vehicle 1or2,drive to t/mark {this is to allow the engine to get to a set of points}, couple to vehicle front/behind signal.
I know it's long winded but if your at a station or use it a lot at the same place you can put the set of commands in a schedule library and give the copy commands from library {run round}. one command and all the ones you have saved under that name are followed.
