Help out a newb on re-skinning

I have trainz 2010 and I want to do some simple re-skinning for my personal
use on a fictional line. I have looked at 3 or 4 tutorials, mucked around in
"Gimp" and "Paint.net" and have not been able to get my changes to show
up on the rolling stock. Is some content "locked" so to speak? My most
recent try was to work from the content manager, cloning and editing and
renaming the asset and saving. Now I don't know how to "close" the edit and
get it to show up in the game. There seem to be many knowledgeable and
helpful folks on these forums, I wonder if someone could make a few
suggestions to get me going in the right direction.

After you have completed your changes, you have to 'Commit' the item, this does several things. It checks the asset for errors, and converts and compresses it into an internal format that Trainz can use.

One way is to select the item and press [CTRL] + [M], alternatively you will see the 'Commit' command in the editing menu.

Thanx narrowga. That commit command worked. I knew something like that
had to be done, but did not see that "commit" command in that edit submenu. This train sim has lots of little "gotcha's" that can frustrate you.
