help needed urgently please

Most content comes in the form of a CDP file which can be double-clicked to load it into Content Manager. If this does not happen, open Content Manager in Trainz Classics 3, then use File > Import CDP.

Thank you I have managed that,A question, can one only buy the new updates now as downloads for example the new ? Carlisle Settle route. Also on this forum do you have a part dedicated to trainz for idiots as that is where I should be learning.thank you.

No problem. Another thing to watch out for though is that some content comes in the form of ZIP or RAR files. If you get one of these, you will need to extract the files to a temporary folder, then use File > Import Content and pointing it at that folder (unless the folder contents are .CDP/.CDP2 files)

One other possibility you may come across is .cmpa files. I have a blog entry if this happens detailing the process.

Most asset updates are free and can be downloaded through Content Manager (but you may find that your version is too old for certain updates). There are third-party websites that have updates as well (mixture of freeware and payware).

Payware packs are a different story though. The ones on Simulator Central require at least TS2009 or later, and in some cases TS2010 or even TS12.

Hi everyone
Apologies first! In-case I'm in the wrong thread.
I've a problem with S&C stand alone for 2009 build 43361. I copied the snc.ja file some time ago and all worked fine.
since various updates to ts2012 - currently build 58488, but inside it shows against the CD-key (57635)
When I open S&C in ts2012- I don't have track or S&C people and a host of other goodies, buildings rolling stock, loco's etc etc
Content manager shows 80% of dependencies as 'unknown location' - items by bloodnok, kemplen, mike10, paulhobbs to name a few.
Is there an S&C forum?
Is there an answer I've missed in these forums?
Even the stand-alone version has assets missing.....
Once again guys I'm in yours hands for some most valuable help. I thank you in advance

Regards....

Hi

Have you allowed TS12 SP1 to redownload the S&C route again under the new DRM system? Unfortunately TS12 SP1 doesn't recognise the old add on and you need to let it download the new version. This will come as a two part download which total over 1Gb but they include all of the content that was on the website. The latest version has been updated to correct the known faults.

As I don't have the stand-alone version installed I can't help with that I'm afraid but if you look under the TS2009 section of these forums there is a sub section for the S&C add on. Other than that I'm not aware of any other forum for it.

Hello Brian, thanks for the reply.
I don't understand the bit about re-download and DRM?
If i look on the STEAM website for S&C - it tells me i already own it (yes I do but its 2009), nothing about downloading an update?
could you please advise me further, thanks

Hi again

I hadn't realised that you had a Steam version. When N3V put out the patch to upgrade TS12 to SP1 they introduced a new DRM system at the same time. All of the DLC content that you have bought has to be re-downloaded and installed again to be able to use it in SP1. This means that someone like myself who has quite a bit of DLC content such as the S&C route, Blue Comet etc. had to spend 5 hours getting about 5Gb of DLC content back in game - something I wasn't too happy about. Unfortunately SP1 doesn't recognise the old S&C routes and rolling stock etc. but only the new version of it.

Looking at the build number that you have it looks as if you have been patched up to SP1. The symptoms that you describe regarding missing content from the S&C are exactly what I was seeing after patching to SP1 but before I knew that I had to re-download all the DLC content. It didn't recognise my old serial number and I spent an hour or two on the forum trying to find out what was happening.

As I have never used Steam but have always bought direct from Auran/N3V I don't know what the position is with Steam and DLC content. Hopefully someone with experience with Steam and SP1 will come along and be able to give you more information.

Regards

Brian

@lenlawrence: I have the Steam version and I have the same build as you. (Which includes SP1 and a couple of hotfixes.) When I purchased the Murchison2 DLC from steam, I took the product key that Steam provided and entered it at the Auran website. Then when I started Trainz (in Steam), the DLC started downloading. The process should work the same with your DLC. It appears that any product purchased on Steam needs to be activated at the Auran (N3V) website.

Hi Jamie, Hi Brian Thanks for you replies hope you read this?
me thinks the dentist is more pleasurable than SP1 and then having to download the 'upgrade' - but all is well now - thanks so much for your input - S&C works fine in TS2012 & the rolling stock, people, vehicles etc are OK - thank you once again !!!!
