Hello guys

i seem to be getting quite alot of lag in my yard theres around 30 locos there all steaming i was thinking that could be why i get so much lag is that my Graphics card has to load them all up

i dont get lag at all once i leave the yard
but i was wondering if theres any way to stop getting all that lag in the yard as its like impossible to try and drive a loco out with the lag going on.

Here are my pc specs:
Windows xp pro
2gig ram
Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT 512mb
Cpu 3 ghz(Single core atm)

Any help would truely be great

Delete some engines.

I'm guessing that each one of those 30 engines take 2mg of memory. So with 30 engines you are asking your computer to use 60mg of memory just for this. This is on top of everything else that is on the screen like tracks, switch stands, rail cars, etc. I would eliminate atleast 10 engines then keep deleting engines until the lag becomes acceptable to you.;)

maybe spread the locos out abit so not all of them in the main yard? So maybe some at another yard at like the 3rd station maybe that would work tooo

Also this starts to happen could this be the result of so meny locos in one place?

Try adding some more ram...

Even with a high end PC it still takes a reasonable amount of time to load up 25 - 30 engines all at once, particular stream loco's...
One detailed engine can be anything from 5 to 12+ megs.. Multiply that by 30 and you start to see that you are expecting your processor to do a large amount of work in a very short period of time...

I'd recommend that you do what SW1500 has suggested. Reduce numbers & spread them out more so they are not all trying to load up at the same time...

Wouldn't hurt to put another 1 or 2 gigs of ram in your PC....
Also turn off anything unnecessarily running in the background before starting Trainz. (stuff that usually loads up at startup) eg; A/V, Firewall, etc, etc...
Cheers, Mac.
